LATROUPE Prado Hostel

Stayed in 7 different hostels in 7 different cities, and usually I don’t leave comments, but this is the best that I ever went to! Definitely recommend for solo travellers

Very clean, easy checking in, and great location. Extra euro for luggage storage, towel.

Price not cheap for eur 315 a night for a two beds private room with bathroom. They name themselves a hostel. So you expect to pay eur 315 for a hostel service. First impression: Not handicap friendly and not so friendly staff When I walked from atocha train station to the hostel, I saw a sign with the hotel name and handicap blue sign nearby. So I walked in the door, an older senior restaurant staff immediately rushed in front of me to tell me the hostel door is around the corner. The “actual” hostel door has three fours steps up. We have two large rolling luggages. They are heavy for us to carry up the steps. I am not trying to gain empathy or sympathy. I just got out of the hospital last month and still recovering. This trip I booked several months ago. But this hostel I booked a week before because the air bnb cancelled on me in short notice. I don’t understand if u put a handicap sign with your hostel name. Customers should be allowed to use the flat surface path to the hostel door. the restaurant is connected to the hostel front reception. Very inconvenient and the senior staff with thick black glasses doesn’t seem very friendly. Pre check in: We arrived at the hostel around 2:30pm. The female check in staff seems a bit friendlier than the restaurant senior staff. But after she checked our documents. She told us that the check in time is 3:30pm not 3pm as advertised. There is storage fee for luggages if you don’t want to wait around from 2:30 to 3:30pm. I am disappointed about the 3:30pm check in time and the storage fee. We paid eur 315 a night for a hostel service. What do u expect? Luckily we got our room key at 3pm. But it is enough of a surprise for us. I don’t want to complain at that moment as we already been stood up by an air bnb. Room: Seems nicely decorated. But the draining pipes are exposed for an industrial look ? Or for saving renovation costs? You can hear water drainage sound all night long. Bed: The bed is slop down from the edge. It is not an edge. Pretty big concave downward on the edge. My body is constantly trying to not to slope down and out. Not comfortable at all. Window door handle broken: One of the two windows door handles was broken. You can not keep the window door shut to prevent lights and noise in. Or u can move the coffee table to keep the door closed Housekeeping: The door sign says they clean room every three days and will dump trash and sweep floor every day. If you need housekeeping need to let them know by noon the day before. I did not see the sign on the door knob until the next day. So I didn’t hang my towels on rack to dry. I can not stand to use a wet towel. So I What’Sapp front door staff they offer fresh towels to be picked up at the front or will change after 11am. We paid eur 315 a night for three nights we spent almost eur 1000. You have to bring your old towels down and bring the fresh ones back to your room “self serve”. Again they name themselves a hostel. Shower: Even with a closed shower door you can not keep the shower water inside. It is wet outside thr shower door. Remember they only do housekeeping every three days. I am trying to re use the shower mat to clean.
