My partner and I had such a lovely stay at this onsen, truly one of the most relaxing days of our trip! I wish we could have spent more days even being unplugged and immersed in nature. Getting out here was a good deal of bus connections but the location was beautiful and worth the hassle. Be sure to call ahead in the summer to guarantee a shuttle from the lakeside station to the onsen itself!

Magic spot to unwind and slow down. We are used to low lighting so the lamps a little bright in our room on all night for us. Meals were magic. Bonus mid evening meal entertainment. A little more explanation in English would have been helpful for entertainment.

Lamp no Yado was a unique experience that immersed us fully in Japanese culture. Without electricity and internet, and little Japanese-English we learned and had fun with watching, and nonverbals. This is not a fancy spa which we loved. We felt immersed in Nature and tradition.

The hotel has no electric and internet and no private toilet. You will feel like going back 100 years ago living at old ryokan and stay with nature closely. No choice of dinner and breakfast, it 's setto for every guest the same. The onsen is nice. Only terrible is location that looks dangerous.
