Hotel Ziggy on Sunset

The location is fantastic if you want to be in the heart of Sunset, lots of places in walking distance. The hotel itself is average, and over priced. Staff at the front desk was below average and very hit and miss and the staff in the restaurant were extremely slow and care factor seemed even lower. Room was comfortable and bed was fantastic, air conditioning unit was loud and the bathroom was tiny. We chose the hotel because of the location, but wouldn't stay here again.

Loved our stay and would have loved it even more if we got to experience it over a weekend. Nice big clean rooms, and a great atmosphere and location.

I wish I didn’t have negative things to say about this hotel, but unfortunately our experience was not the best. Upon booking, I was excited to try something that seemed unique and not just your average hotel. I got a pretty good deal on it plus the location was perfect as we were going to a show at the Comedy Club. My husband and I had to take separate cars due to work schedules and upon arriving we were told the only parking they have is valet and it is $65 per night per vehicle. This was not originally disclosed when booking, so there went $130. We were determined not to let it ruin our day together. Then as we checked in we were told that there are additional “city fees” on top of what we had already paid to book. Another approximate $85! Again, something that wasn’t disclosed. So in less than 5 mins of even stepping foot on the premises we spent $215, which was more than what we paid for the room to begin with as it was a week day. Again, still trying not to let it ruin our day, we were told there is a happy hour where guests each receive 2 free margaritas at their bar. So when we walked over, we were “greeted” by a disgruntled bartender. *** for reference. When she finally acknowledged us, she just looks at us with the nastiest look and says if we want our margaritas she’ll pour us a double. Obviously just to get out of the work of making us two. So we agreed because whatever at this point. She starts pouring it from a premix bottle but it was not the color of a normal margarita. My husband is anaphylactic to certain fruits so I politely asked if there was any fruit juices in it and she gives me the dirtiest look, rolls her eyes and says it’s a margarita so condescending. I used to be a bartender, I’m not a dumbass. I had to ask for the safety of my husband who literally could have died. It’s one thing to have a bad day, it’s another to be an absolute bitch to a stranger for no reason. So that left a bad taste in my mouth and topped off my first 10 mins in the hotel. I had requested a room on the top level weeks in advance and we were put on the bottom level with windows that led to a brick wall and no sunlight. The rooms were tiny as were the bathrooms. The only thing that was great was the lounging area by the pool. Lots of patio furniture to just hang. All in all, we decided we won’t be going back. It was not worth the money, the hassle, and being treated in such a terrible way.
