Hotel Colon

The hotel has a great location right in the middle of the city center. I must say that the staff were absolutely amazing, very helpful and friendly. I wish the curtains and the shades in the room were better. Because our room was right above the street, you can’t have natural light in the room without everyone seeing you. Also the breakfast was ok, I wish I could pick my one plate.

Hotel Colón features a beautifully presented room with a terrace. There is a shower over the bathtub with a moving screen, and shampoo, body wash, and other toiletries are provided. The bed linen and towels were clean and soft. There is a mini-fridge in the room, but no kettle. The hot water has good pressure. The air conditioning is located above the wardrobe but worked well. The shower had a shower hose which had to be held while showering. It was okay for me, but a different shower hose holder would be more convenient. There are double blinds on both windows to keep the sun and heat away.I was on the third (top) floor with only two rooms, so it was very quiet despite the hotel being located on the intersection of two roads. The windows are double-glazed, and the elevator was very convenient. Breakfast was minimal but enough, and you could get seconds if needed. The ladies at the reception and in the café were very nice. Lots of locals came for breakfast as well, so it didn't feel touristy or isolated.I arrived three hours early and they stored my bags. When I returned at 3:30 PM, my bags were already in my room. The hotel uses physical keys and has a 24-hour reception. The room with the terrace was big and very comfortable. It has side tables with table lamps, and the power outlets are near the bed. The mattress was comfortable.The only things I didn't like were that there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the reception area one evening, and the pillows were a bit too firm. Otherwise, it was a very good stay. I wanted to stay longer in my big room overlooking the church across the road and the park. The location is just perfect—not far from the bus station and only 5 minutes from the center and the bridge. The room was nice to return to after a busy day of exploring. The room looked exactly as pictured on the website. I would stay here again.

I am normally skeptical when I have been told by the staff that they'd offer me the best room. Turns out true this time and very grateful for it. Room had a balcony overseeing the park and i would;ve stayed longer if I had known I was going to have such a room. Breakfast was good. They offer Zurrapa de Lmo Iberico with your toast :-) Service staff were all very warm and friendly.
