Casa Lumi is a great budget friendly hotel that includes free breakfast.
Rooms are spacious, staff friendly, a location good. It’s 15 minutes from the town center. 2 blocks to the beach.

Great place to stay in Holbox! The hotel is stunning, breakfast is delicious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable. The only small downside was the low water pressure in the shower, but it didn’t bother us much. It’s the perfect place to relax and slow down. We hope we’ll be lucky enough to visit again, we loved it.
Just a few tips for other readers: the hotel isn’t centrally located. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the centre (the port is a bit further). You can reach the hotel from the port by taxi for around 160 pesos. There are a few nice restaurants about a 5-minute walk away. We enjoyed walking and exploring the island, but if that’s not your thing, you’ll need a golf buggy or bike, especially if you’re not keen on walking in 30-degree heat.
Head about 5 minutes from the hotel to the beach. Find a beach club or café and settle in for the day. Punta Coco, where you can see the bioluminescence, is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. We took a few wrong turns and ended up on some flooded tracks, so it took us around 20 minutes in the end. We preferred the beach closer to the hotel.
Bring pesos (no working ATMs when we visited). Bring mosquito repellent and bite cream, essential! Note that due to the influx of tourists (ourselves included), there’s quite a bit of building work, construction sites, and some litter. It doesn’t take away from the island’s great vibe and natural beauty, though.
