    We are a group of four who extended our stay in Chongqing after our 16-day tour ended. We moved to the Hilton Chongqing from a four star hotel in Downtown Chongqing. Our expectations were quickly dampened when we moved into the Hilton, perhaps because we were expecting a hotel of much higher standards - after all this is a well known five star vs the four star hotels provided in our tour - but to our chagrin, this particular Hilton is really dated and has definitely seen better days. Really old style room, jaded style bathrooms - no proper shower stall, old style separate mixers, magnifying mirror located etc. I must say except for the bed which is quite comfortable all other features belong to a hotel of a past era, sorry to have to say this. The concierge is not very conversant in English, but I guess this is acceptable as this is similar in most hotels that we stayed in during the tour. However what is not acceptable is condescending attitude when asked if the hotel has self service laundry services (all the 4* hotels that we stayed in, to our pleasant surprise had) we were just told "no free laundry service here". But this is the Hilton and we should expect a more diplomatic response. Well, another surprise is the really high deposit required - RMB3000 for two rooms for two nights. Anyway, just to add on. The Hotel's location is so so, with some food outlets nearby but no shopping malls in the vicinity. Overall, our group was very disappointed with our last two nights stay at the Hilton Chongqing.
