    I have stayed at around six different hotels in Malé over the years, and most of them have been well maintained and offered a good standard of service. Unfortunately, H78 was by far the worst experience I have had. Shortly after our stay, both my partner and I developed numerous bites all over our bodies. I have attached photos. Unfortunately, the medical certificate was issued after we had already checked out, so the hotel claims there is nothing they can do and refuses any refund. What is particularly concerning is that both a local doctor and a doctor in our home country independently stated that the bites appear consistent with bed bug bites. When I raised this issue with the hotel, I was told they had never heard of any bed bug complaints before. However, this is difficult to believe when multiple 1-star google reviews already mention insect and bug-related problems. Anyone considering this property should carefully read the lowest-rated reviews before booking. Another issue is the room itself. Our view was essentially a wall, and very little sunlight entered the room. In my opinion, the lack of natural light and the damp environment may contribute to the overall condition of the rooms. Noise was also a major problem. We could hear luggage being dragged through the hallways, staff walking back and forth, and general corridor noise throughout the day and night. Sound insulation appears to be extremely poor. To make matters worse, the hotel claimed they had coordinated with our next accommodation regarding our transfer. However, they provided the wrong booth number, which caused us to miss our host the following day and created unnecessary stress during our trip. I genuinely do not understand how such a basic arrangement could be handled incorrectly. It is unfortunate because a hotel stay should be a comfortable start to a holiday, but this experience was the complete opposite. My recommendation is simple: please read the 1-star reviews carefully before booking and make an informed decision. For those planning a special vacation, choose wisely to avoid the problems we experienced.
