We stayed at Colonial City Motel to attend the Balloon Over Waikato event, and the location was perfect—very close to Hamilton Lake where the balloons take off.
The management kindly contacted us in advance to inform us that check-in would be at a different property across the road. We really appreciated the clear communication, and it made the process smooth and hassle-free.
Although the motel is an older property, we stayed in Room 10, which appears to be fully refurbished. Everything was excellent—clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The room exceeded our expectations for the price.
It also included a small kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, heater, fridge, and dining equipment, which was very convenient. The room size was especially impressive and offered great value for money.
We would definitely stay at Colonial again if we visit Waikato in the future.

They upgraded me to a one bedroom suite on the top floor, nice and roomy, nice dark curtains and quiet. Nice and clean and looks like its been done up. Highly recommended! Will stay again
