Baylis Park Hotel

On arriving, the staff member at reception treated me like I was a problem for booking a room and was rather condescending. Next I get to the room with a party happening outside at the hotels venue which went on until the early hours. The room was dirty, walls, floor, bathroom, like it hasn’t had a deep clean ever. The shower trickled out and whilst having that shower a staff member tried opening my room door, so I got out the shower and asked wtf, he said he was checking if I had towels and I told him you should never try to open a customers room with them obviously in there and he didn’t even apologise just walked off. I won’t ever book a room here again

My profession, for many years, has taken me the length and breadth of the country. During that time I have experienced some pretty awful establishments.. So, I can honestly say, that I am not so easily shocked when I have the misfortune to encounter a new sub standard B&B, or hotel. Unfortunately, this latest hotel, situated in Stoke Poges Lane, Slough, is by far the worst, most appalling hotel that I have ever stayed at in over 30 years. I had pre booked/ paid for 2 nights. On the first night I was bitten by several BED BUGS inside my allocated room. My reaction, when I woke in the early hours, was quite severe. The backs of my shoulders and neck were lined with raised white lumps from the bed bugs bites and insanely itchy. I videoed a bed bug as proof to show hotel management then squashed the bug between my fingers to show just how engorged it was - with my actual blood. I also photographed and videoed the the bathroom sink and the bath itself- as neither had an actual plug of any kind. So only a shower was available, as a bath was now out of the question. I photographed the wardrobe to show that the left hand side door was hanging on at an angle - as the lower hinge was unattached and hanging loose. I attempted to move the fan to a new position and in doing so..the fan came away from the lower stand. At this point, I decided to get dressed ( having scrutinised every inch of my clothes and suitcase, for any additional bed bugs ) and then make my way to work, (exceptionally early, ) but not before showing the male receptionist at the main hotel, which is situated several yards from the apartment that I was staying in. I showed him the video of the bed bug, then asked him if he was aware of what it was. He merely shrugged and nonchalantly replied.."bed bug". It was as if my bed bug 'revelation', was old news to him, and he had heard it all before. I said that when I return from work, later that day, I do not expect to be returned to that very same room and would like my alternative room to be throughly checked! He said he would relay my concerns to the " lady above him", which I assumed was the manageress. I returned later that night - and encountered what I believed was said manageress. She said my situation had been relayed to her, only that she was unable to give me an equivalent room ( with double bed and bath...as the hotel was FULL. She said she only had one room left within the hotel complex- and it was a single room, with a shower. By now I was feeling exhausted, having had an extremely strenuous day at work. I said will that room come with some sort of discount, as I had already paid for a double room. She paused and said " no, she couldn't do that". Feeling so worn out, I agreed, telling her that I intended to write them an appalling review- she just shrugged!! The level of disinterest, by all the staff, especially her, was absolutely astounding!! I had taken a series of photographs of the single room in which I occupied. The shower is filthy, it was clear to see just by stepping through the bathroom that it had not been cleaned in quite a while. The skirting boards were lined along the top ridge with a layer of ingrained grime. I throughly inspected the single bed for the possibility of bed bugs in doing so, I removed the actual pillowcase from the pillow itself. I was shocked to find the actual pillow stained,..with large yellow patches of dried sweat, along with other unknown dark stains. I ended up using my back pack to rest my head on as a pillow for the rest of the night. So, as you can see from my post... I AM DISGUSTED WITH THIS HOTEL AND ITS EMPLOYEES/ MANAGEMENT. THE BAYLIS PARK HOTEL NEEDS A SERIOUS OVERHAUL...BUT UNTIL THAT HAPPENS...AVOID IT!!!!
