Ayubo Ella - Bed & Breakfast

Ayubo accomodation has been by far our best experience in Sri Lanka! Mithula is an exceptional host. He went above and beyond to not only make sure our stay was incredible but also our experience of Ella. Ayubo is situated only a short drive away from Ella town, amongst the mountains overlooking tea plantations. You even have a view of the temple lit up at night. Our room was super spacious with great bedding and a comfortable mattress and pillow! Mithula has been the only host we’ve had who has asked if we need new towels or more toilet paper. It was so nice to have a kettle and fridge in our room as well as hot water. Mithula even left us tea! Mithula checked in with us each day to see if we needed help with planning. He was incredibly knowledgeable. He helped us squeeze all the best parts of Ella into 3 days! We could easily have spent longer if we had more time. Mithula has so much wisdom and knowledge for the best roads/paths to take and best activities to do in the area. Mithula’s cousin owns Ice Cube a restaurant in Ella and there’s an option for food to be delivered to the accomodation. We tried some of the food and it was incredible. We can’t fault our stay here at Ayubo and would recommend it to anyone seeking accomodation away from the town. We had our own tuk tuk so the 5 minute drive to Ella town wasn’t a problem. We found having our own transport the best way to get around in Ella as often the activities we wanted to do involved a 20 minute tuk tuk drive. There lots of drivers around and options to rent motorbikes in Ella. All in all we loved our stay and are so thankful for Mithula’s warm and friendly hospitality. We were sad to leave!

Nestled at the centre of green backdrop. this place gave us a very fresh feeling of calmness and closeness to nature. Full marks to Mithula and his staff. They had solutions to all queries and service was super prompt. Breakfast was incredible with so much on the table made traditionally with the perfect flavor. You wont get all this in a hi fi hotel stay, so full marks to Ayubo Ella. We both loved the stay

Our stay was memorable. Our special thanks to Mithula. He was like a younger brother. He took care of us so well and he made sure we enjoy good food. Cook Prakash was awesome. The coconut chappati, string hoppers and varieties of curries was yummy. The property is lovely. The room is large and the rest room is very clean. A well maintained home stay .

Ayubo Ella is located slightly uphill, away from the busy streets of Ella Town. The road leading to the property is small, steep, and bumpy, but easily manageable by tuk-tuk. A ride from Ella Town takes about 7 minutes and costs Rs. 300-400 & 6mins away from Ella Railway Station. The room is basic, and the lighting is quite dim—it would feel much more inviting with brighter lights in both the room and bathroom. The toilet has a hot water shower, and the balcony offers beautiful natural views of paddy fields, hills, and fruit trees, with a misty landscape in the morning. However, due to mosquitoes, it’s best to avoid stepping out onto the balcony at night. The owner and team are thoughtful, even preparing early breakfast before 8 AM if you need to leave early. It's also just a 5-minute tuk-tuk ride to popular eateries like Matey’s Hut, which serves delicious food. Overall, a good option for a short, no-frills stay in Ella with your basic needs covered.
