    Stayed 18 nights at Areca Hotel Yangon with my wife. The staff was nice, and breakfast was solid, but the stay had major issues. The Wi‑Fi was down for about 10 days due to city work, and the hotel offered no solution — we had to buy our own router for 200,000 MMK. Noise from the room above was constant day and night, and despite reporting it, nothing was done. Good staff and food, but poor room experience and no Wi‑Fi made the stay disappointing. Overall: 3/10.

    I would normally rate this hotel 5/5 for its convenient location and cleanliness. Unfortunately, my stay was overshadowed by several issues. The room I was assigned had a faulty telephone, which meant I had to use my personal cell phone every time I needed to contact reception. Even for a simple inquiry about the laundry service, I had to go downstairs in person. The hotel assured me they would fix the problem, but after two days, nothing had been done. Instead, they offered to move me to another room, which meant packing and unpacking all of my belongings again. It was a very inconvenient experience. I booked this hotel through Agoda because it was one of the few available options for the dates I needed and was conveniently located near the places I planned to visit. However, the furniture in my room showed significant wear and tear, making it feel dated. I was surprised that a room in this condition was assigned to an international guest staying for an extended period. The hotel also offers short-stay (hourly) rooms, which may explain the heavy use of some of the furnishings. The hotel has a rooftop bar and restaurant with a good selection of drinks. The food was decent, but given the premium prices, I expected a higher standard of quality. The staff were professional but somewhat casual in their interactions. I had expected a warmer and more attentive level of hospitality. Overall, the hotel’s location is its strongest selling point, with easy access to the city’s main roads. However, considering the service I received and the condition of my room, I don’t feel the hotel offers good value for the money.
