I've stayed at AmericInn Viroqua a few times, but only this time as a solo traveler. I booked thru a third-party site, and probably got a special rate, as the room I was given was ... interesting. It was not your typical queen hotel room, as it had a sink/kitchen counter type area next to the bed, and a toilet/small shower in the far end of the room. Honestly, it felt like they converted an old storage room into a rentable one. The toilet was, quite literally, rocking on the floor any time you sat on it (admittedly, I completely forgot to tell them this any time I saw staff, as I was usually there with a different question), and there was no clothes hanging space at all. Not a closet, wardrobe, nor even bar on the wall. It just felt like an afterthought of a room. It was fine, in the grand scheme of things, but if I were to get this room as a couple traveling, I would've asked to change. The staff is mostly quite pleasant and helpful, but it is a bit hit or miss, depending on who you get. Would I stay there again? Sure. Would I avoid room 228 in the future? Absolutely.
The chocolate chip cookies were tasty, and I've had the breakfast there in the past, and it was good. I can't speak to it now, as I didn't have it. Honestly, I was exhausted from a week of packing boxes, preparing for a move, so I was a bit bleary-eyed and out of it. The front desk was very helpful in adding nights to my booking, as I was too tired to drive to Chicago airport. That said, I booked a La Quinta suite (also a Wyndham property) in Illinois as I was heading to the airport, and the room was far better for the same price. Again, I think it might've just been this particular room in AmericInn.
