Whenever we visit Philadelphia, The Alexander Inn is where we stay, and it has never let us down. The location is ideal. The historic sites, great restaurants, and lively bars are all within walking distance, so we park the car and explore the city on foot.
After a full day out, it's a comfortable, welcoming place to come back to. If you want to be close to everything Philly has to offer, this is the spot.
We'll keep coming back.

Our stay was unfortunately marred by several service and maintenance issues. Upon arrival, the sink in our room wouldn't drain properly. The receptionist assured us it would be fixed the next day, so we opted not to switch rooms. However, he failed to mention that the handyman doesn't work on weekends. As a result, we had to deal with a broken sink for most of our stay before finally being forced to move rooms on our last day.Additionally, the hotel has an inconvenient policy where guests are not given an AC remote; you have to call the front desk every time you want to adjust the temperature. Breakfast was also underwhelming—the eggs ran out and were never replenished despite our request. To top it off, the water cooler broke, forcing us to go across the street to buy our own drinking water. We expected much better management and communication.

Location is no more than a 15 minute walk (5 minute drive) away from Reading Market and the Philadelphia bus station. Affordable and just enough room for a solo traveler. There is a convenience market directly across the street. Building is 100 plus years old, so the room/facilities are as expected. Complementary breakfast and evening social is such a plus along with the great location!

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was disappointing. The room was extremely small and did not match the photos shown on the hotel’s website. The décor felt outdated and was quite different from what was advertised.
Another inconvenience was the air conditioning system, as guests cannot adjust the temperature themselves and must call the reception desk each time they want it changed.
Considering the quality of the room and facilities, I found the price to be much higher than it should have been. The only positive aspect of my stay was the staff, who were friendly and helpful throughout.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, as it did not provide good value for the price paid.
