My stay at Rivendell eco lodge was absolutely supernice. Allison is an incredibly welcoming host who has created a paradise on earth. I felt instantly at home, not just with her, but also with her wonderful animals: the dogs, cats, chickens the cock, fish, and turtle.The environment radiates peace. I swam in the beautiful basin (after a quick shower to keep the water clean!). At night, the starry sky was breathtakingly beautiful, and during the day, I loved hiking to the cascade tricolor and reading in the comfortable hanging chairs.I have so much admiration for how Allison maintains this beautiful place and her arts, her knowledge of plants and how to live ecological. If you want peace, nature, and warmth, look no further. Thank you, Allison and animals, and the volonteer for an unforgettable stay!
A quick tip on logistics: As a Dutch traveler, I initially hoped to rent a bike, but quickly learned why La Palma is called "the vertical island"! Biking isn't realistic here, so i depended on public transport. From Los Llanos i took a taxi to the main trailhead parking lot (where you would park if you have a rental car). From there, all guests hike about 15 minutes to the eco-lodge, with just the final stretch being quite steep.

We loved the location, the people and the house. If you know Tolkien, you'll understand why Alison calls it Rivendell. It is so peaceful, the views are wonderful and the air is so clear. The walks we did from the house were fantastic. We made sure we had all the food we needed for 3 days. The shared kitchen is well equipped. There was a film night while we were there, everyone was invited and popcorn was shared. The animals are all quiet and friendly, but not intrusive. We definitely hope to return.
The path to Rivendell is steep and takes around 15 minutes to walk from the car park. It is definitely worth the effort though. Enjoy it!

Absolutely magical place. The surroundings are breathtaking. Pure nature, mountains, peace and quiet. Alison is an amazing host: incredibly friendly, helpful, and always quick to answer any question or help solve anything you need.
Yes, you park a bit lower and walk up, but if you have a backpack and a little sense of adventure, it only adds to the charm of this unique, remote spot. For me it was not a problem 😊
