Riverside - Mountain Stay with Sauna

Close to the river. Beautiful view.

I was hiking Peaks of the Balkans. The location is not directly on the trail. About an extra mile of walking although there might have been a shorter route not on my map.

We spent one night in Vusanje for a hiking trip and booked a budget room. The room was exactly as shown in the photos, though the pictures don’t fully reveal its true condition. It was very clean, but for a longer stay it might feel a bit too basic, and the bathroom could use some upgrading — especially the tiny boiler, which runs out of hot water after one shower. These are small observations rather than complaints. Because what truly defined our stay was the family running the place — above all, Arilda. Her kindness, effortless communication in foreign languages, and genuine desire to help with even the smallest request are rare to find anywhere. She welcomed feedback with gratitude, shared local tips with enthusiasm, and made us feel like long‑time friends rather than guests. Her father, mother, and sister are equally warm and attentive, creating a family atmosphere that stays with you long after you leave. Arilda’s approach to hospitality is the kind that can turn a simple, imperfect room into a place you want to return to — and we absolutely will. If this mindset could be taught in schools, the world would be a better place.

The location is perfect, especially for hiking. Breakfast and dinner very tasty.

We had a fantastic stay at Riverside Guesthouse. The hospitality was warm and the staff very kind and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable, and offered beautiful mountain views. The homemade food was delicious, and the sauna was perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking in the mountains. The location is ideal for exploring Prokletije and the Peaks of the Balkans trail. We will definitely come back again.
