Pepper Hills Hostel & Cottages

It was the place we stayed in the whole Sri Lanka! The vibes, the food, the resort, the staff, everything was perfect! We loved the location because it was outside of the crowded Ella. They have scooters if you want to rent and drive all over the place in really affordable prices but it is also located close a the bus station if you want to use the local means of transportation. The food was REALLYYYYY GOOD! Either the Sri Lankan or the European style food was tasty and we highly recommend it instead of giving away your money to touristic restaurants in Ella. The rooms were super clean and the whole cottage was super cozy and quiet located literally in the nature! We regret that we did not had more days in this resort and for sure we are going to come back again!

Stunning location with outdoor pool, the dorm room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful, with recommendations for the area and even helping with flagging down a bus for our next location! They went above and beyond to make our stay amazing

The location was quite far out of Ella centre which was difficult when trying to get transport back after dinner in town, however this was outweighed with the peaceful location of pepper hills. One of the best places we stayed during our trip

Absolute heaven- I wish I could give it more than 10/10. The place is an oasis. The whole vibe here made me feel at peace from the moment I checked in. I stayed in the cottage, which is absolutely gorgeous. Being able to set your alarm and roll out of bed to watch the sun rise each morning is a dream. The grounds and fresh water pool are stunning. I don’t think you lose anything by the property not being situated in Ella town, if anything you gain. It’s lovely and quiet and you can get the local bus or a tuk tuk very easily to and from town. The services on offer here are great. Laundry is done quickly and very reasonably priced. Hiring the tuk tuks through the hotel for day tours is so helpful as you know you’re getting a fair price and it makes it much easier than trying to navigate multiple tuk tuks to see various sites. The included breakfast is amazing. Much better than ones I’ve paid for during my other stays. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

Absolutely nothing!!

Pepper Hills is a jungle sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Ella Town. The view of the mountains are breathtaking, and there are so many spaces to decompress and breathe in the Hill Country. Sha and his team are extremely welcoming and kind, making your stay really peaceful. The dorm room is super comfortable, clean and well designed. Also a natural spring pool surrounded by jungle is there for you to refresh after a day of activities! This place is seriously incredible, it felt more like a resort than a hostel. The Sri Lankan breakfast is so flavourful and delicious! You can easily hop onto a bus towards Ella Town (~20 mins) if you’re worried about accessibility.
