Sobe Proštija

When I booked Sobe Proštija, I had no idea we would be staying in the former parish priest's residence dating back to the 16th century. Sleeping in a building that has served Ptuj's parish for nearly 500 years, beside a church with more than 1,000 years of history, was a truly special and humbling experience. It felt like stepping into living history. What touched us even more was discovering on the morning we checked out that the kind gentleman who had been preparing and serving our breakfast each day was actually the parish priest of Ptuj. We had assumed the property had long since become a privately owned hotel, but learning that it is still owned and lovingly cared for by the parish made our stay incredibly meaningful. As Roman Catholics, this was something we will always treasure. The property has been beautifully restored, blending historic charm with modern comfort. It is located next to a historic church and watch tower built in the 11th century, and behind it is Ptuj castle. The massage chairs were a delightful surprise after long days of sightseeing. We spent 40 days traveling across Europe to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, and of all the wonderful places we visited, Sobe Proštija will always hold a special place in our hearts. Without a doubt, it was the highlight of our entire journey. I hope our paths cross again someday. Father Andrej and Petra, thank you for your warm hospitality and for giving us an experience we'll never forget.

Getting to the place was not easy (in part my fault).

Very comfortable, brilliant location, right in old town,wonderful host, great bespoke ambience, tastefully decorated, free off street parking. Host provided us with bottle of local wine on leaving

Had electric jug but no cups

Room is spacious and clean. There are shampoo and soap provided. Location itself is beautiful.

Brekafast- we were asked the day before when we want our breakfast to be served, since they bake domestic bread and want it to be fresh for us. Great! At the breakfast we got cold bread. Doesn’t matter, still great bread, but the rest - there was literally only jam and butter. One slice of ham, one boild egg, two slices of cheese… Coming from Balkans muself, I felt so sorry and ashamed. It ruined our experience in Ptuj. Oh, I even hat to ask to get the bread!
