*Fall weekends are booking fast! Peak color has arrived on Lake James. Grab Oct. 16–18 or Halloween weekend before they`re gone, or plan a quiet November escape.*
Fall on Lake James is spectacular. Start your mornings with coffee on the deck, paddle the cove as the leaves turn, and end the day around the fire pit under the stars, with the gas fireplace waiting inside. The lake is your backyard and the mountains are your view.

Spend quality time with family and friends and soak in endless lake and mountain views from this 4BR/3BA home, located inside a gated community on Lake James. Enjoy plenty of space to spread out: two large wraparound decks (upper and lower) with grills and seating that are perfect for foliage views come October, a back yard with a fire pit, and a private double-decker dock with lounging space on both levels. A boat isn`t included, but you can rent one from a nearby marina and tie it up right at the dock for the length of your stay.
Our lot includes a beach cove with a path down to a picnic table and hammocks, plus a sandy area for relaxing by the water. We provide 3 kayaks and 2 paddle boards for guest use. Lake James also offers endless ways to explore, including swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, and mountain biking, with 30% of the shoreline protected as State Park land.
About the home:
The main level features the master bedroom and bath with patio doors out to the lake-view deck, a second bedroom with a king bed, a large hall bath, and an open great room with kitchen, dining area, and living room with vaulted ceilings and a gas fireplace. New oversized doors lead out to the deck with expanded dining and seating.
The lower level offers a large den with smart TV, a bedroom with a king bed and new patio doors to the lower deck, and a third bedroom with a queen and bunk bed. There`s a large hall bath and a laundry area off the bunk room. The home includes internet and 3 TVs throughout.
Nearby, the towns of Marion and Morganton offer shopping, dining, and entertainment for when you want to venture beyond the lake.
Please note: Boat trailers are not permitted in the driveway. If you`re bringing a boat, you`ll need off-site parking — your host can provide a nearby location and cost details.

A $500 refundable damage deposit is required for this property. A temporary authorization hold (not a charge) of $500 will be placed on the card used to book, 1 day before check-in. If there is no damage, the hold is released automatically; release timing depends on your bank. If damage occurs, repair costs up to $500 may be collected from the hold, with documentation provided.
The booking party MUST be present the entire stay.
Parking only allowed in driveway, no parking on the street.
Excess trash must be hauled away.
Disconnecting the internet is not allowed.
No fireworks.
No subleasing.
Photo ID may be requested.
Booking party must be 22 yoa.

Loved our stay here. The views were fantastic. Loved the covered lower deck, so we could sit outside during a rainstorm and play cornhole on the deck. Loved the kayaks and paddle boards that were available for use. The double decker dock was fantastic. We rented a boat from a local marina and explored the lake. Hiked a local trail at Lake James State Park. Endless outdoor things to do here.

We loved this house! It was well equipped with the things we needed: kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets, kid supplies like a pack n play and kids' table for meals. The rooms were large and comfortable, and the outdoor spaces were so fun. This is such a beautiful spot and felt really private.

This home enjoys a private lot in an excellent location. The well-maintained outdoor space, including the dock and stunning back porch views, was a highlight of our stay. However, we rated the property three stars due to its outdated interior and poorly maintained amenities. The master bathroom sink had no water, the bed mattress was old, stained, and uncomfortable, and the kitchen pots and pans were in poor condition. Additionally, the front burner on the stove was nonfunctional, and the gas grill was difficult to light, failing to sustain a flame for more than 60 seconds. We also discovered thick black mold on the washing machine’s door seal, accompanied by a foul odor. While we managed to clean enough to use the machine, it was an unpleasant task during a vacation. On a positive note, when we lost power midweek, the property management company was highly responsive, keeping us updated with Duke Energy’s progress.
