Rustig gelegen in het groen. De keuken was goed uitgerust. Gezellige ingerichte chalet. Palletkachel verwarmt snel de ruimte.

De waterdruk van het bad/douche was niet goed ingesteld waardoor er maar weinig/traag water uit de kraan kwam.

Le chalet très accueillant est d'une très très grande propreté et particulièrement bien équipé avec toutes les informations pratiques et les recommandations très complètes envoyées avant le séjour par l'hôte et disponibles sur place avec des modes d'emplois et des conseils très clairs et illustrés. Situation idéale car le chalet fait partie d'un domaine de chalets aéré et très boisé (en bas duquel il y a 7j7 une brasserie/restaurant démocratique ouverte - truites recommandées ;-) ) mais il est en prime sur la périphérie du domaine et donc au contact direct des prairies et avec des dégagements visuels sur la vallée de l'Ourthe. Localisation idéale comme base de départ pour quantité d'excursions, de visites (plus riche musée que prévu sur la Bataille des Ardennes et son impact sur la cité ancienne à la Roche, ...), et de marches qui débutent parfois déjà à proximité immédiate. Le lieu idéal et tout confort pour revenir après des visites très variées dans cette région ou après des marches dans des forêts profondes (vallon et fagnes de Bellemeuse, ...), la vallée sauvage de l'Ourthe supérieure (lac de Nisramont, crètes du Hérou, oppidum du Tchestlé, ...) ou sur le plateau des fagnes des Tailles.

The property is a small holiday home on an estate, ticked away in the Ardennes.

We arrived late in the evening at a resort that was completely dark. Presumably because of energy saving measures the street lights were off, there was no-one in the other chalets and we were a bit lost trying to find the location of "our" chalet. The estate is too big (and too steep) to simply walk around and too complex to navigate with a car in the dark. Once we located it, we got in by pressing a code. We were welcomed by a cold and slightly damp place. We received the code to the door only after spending another EUR 200 as a deposit and receiving email after email of all the do's and don'ts for the property. The owners clearly love controlling what goes on and have made a clear list of everything that is forbidden and everything that is compulsory. Such as removing garbage bags. Such as buying woodpellets for the stove. It is completely unclear where the garbage bags go, or where you can obtain woodpellets without spending an hour online and an hour driving. The property itself is neat but a bit sad. Working class chicque, with a big wheel as decoration and two TV's. The jacuzzi is a feast of ingenuity: clearly too big and too complex for a holiday home, it has been mounted inside a space where it does not fit, it needs huge amounts of water and energy and it exudes an air of over-extending the boundaries of what should constitute simple life on a wooden chalet. It is country life for people who live in a high-rise appartment building. Summarising I must conclude that the owners purchased the property for themselves, not for renting out. Then they decided to rent it out after all. Then they realised that tennets need clear instructions. Then they produced all these emails and deposits. At no time did they consider making up the beds, or preheating the place for new tenants, or switching on outdoor lights. I would suggest it is best they keep it to themselves.
