Casa dell'arte Veglie

Valentina looked after us with much attention and correct communication. Every evening the jacuzzi was pre-warmed. We loved the welcome package of local products. The house is in immaculate conditions, very well maintained and like a museum with all the paintings on the wall and art work. The rooms are spacious with two bathrooms and a sundeck terrace for morning coffee and many shared areas all around the house. Secure parking with fence around the house. We did not have very high expectations of Veglie as a destination, Veglie is not on the list with the amazing villages in Puglia, that is understandable, but we were happily surprised; we ventured into the village on bicylces every morning; you will not find tourists here (great!), but a buzzing community, with a few excellent restaurants and authentic coffee bars, a lovely small historic centre, this was the real Puglia for us and we loved to experience being part of this for just 3 days. For us it was an excellent base to discover Salento; all distances are short; you drive max 1 hrs to reach any place the Salento region.

Nothing disappointed us.

Fascinating and beautiful house in a small non-touristy town, which makes for a very Italian experience. Valentina could not have been more attentive, and every detail of our stay was considered and provided for. We loved trying the local food and restaurants, especially the very fresh seafood. Valentina and her family know the area extremely well and are happy to recommend. Coastal drives, views and villages were a highlight, as were local wine and beer producers! We have come home with some stunning photographs, plenty of local produce, and a determination to return to Veglie before too long.

Roads in the area are not in good condition, but this could not be helped by our hosts... Be prepared for bumpy rides when driving around!
