Pleasant stay in Porto Rafti

We extended our stay for another 2 nights, The first 3 nights we were in a larger apartment with the bedroom upstairs accessible via a very tight spiral staircase, the extra 2 nights we moved to a smaller apartment, which we really liked more as everything was on the same level. Well equipped kitchens in both, three supermarkets a short stroll away. The bay is stunning.

Beds were very firm in both apartments , too firm for us, could do with a thick mattress topper or softer mattresses.

Not for intenational clientele or families

The space was more than a person needs Cleanliness Secure, when windows are closed.

The area is far from the beach and not really central, you will need a car. Its not the best area either. Spiral staircase was so tight, it was almost impossible to get a big suitcase up the stairs. Stair case was not 100% sturdy or secure. Something to consider if you are a family of 4. I could hear the neighbor through the walls from the minute they woke up to turn the radio on and hearing the TV being watched at night. If you are a light sleeper avoid, as there is a caged dog that barks at night that is used for car park security. Animal crulety? Communal washing machine?? One washing machine for 6-7 flats. Not sure how hygienic this is. During my stay after it had been cleaned, the bathroom window was left open. I was concerned for my valuables in the flat. No instructions on what to do with/ where to put refuse. My stay was for 11 days. I found myself having to take my refuse by car and throw it away. A&D apartments booking system made an error. I was 5hrs drive away only to be told I was expected to have checked out the accommodation. Alternative accommodation was offred however, finding it at 12am in the morning was not the way I was expecting to spend my last day there. I had requested a refund for one night out of eleven for principal but was turned down. I was asked to provide an honest review, here is a critical review.

It's OK

It's OK for a few nights. Average in my opinion.

-Very thin walls and noisy neighbours. -Although the apartment was generally very clean (except the bathtub, which was not clean at all), and looks like it was recently renovated, there were spots on the walls that take away from the overall feeling of cleanliness. -The living room sofa is ridiculously uncomfortable. -A little overpriced -The property manager was very friendly but the automatic messages (reminding you of checkout time before you've even arrived) feel a little impersonal. -Not the best value for money IMO--there are nicer places in the area at very similar prices.

Clean and tidy

Easy to find thanks to accurate and detailed instructions provided by host. Own parking place next to the house. Clean fresh bed linens. Two terrases. In walking distance from the coastal area.

Could be any device for hanging drying washed clothes. Not possible to hang the shower head somewhere on the wall when washing the head. Very basic kichen amenities.

Stay away

The only good thing was that it was close to some super markets and drug stores.

Room was not as shown in pictures, the pics are photoshopped to hide a hanging cable, outlets and wall switches were dirty and old, front door was crooked and the wall insulation was non-existent. Late at night, the guy next door came to his apartment and only by the sound of his keys on his door, you thought that he was gonna enter yours.

Porto Rafti Stay

The apartment was clean and comfortable. We were there for 10 days & it was good for what we needed. The beds were good and the rooms were spacious. The kitchen was fine, had just what was needed, minus a couple of things. Artemis was great to deal with and responded quickly to any enquiries, which was appreciated! The apartment was close to the shops, which was very handy. Some great bakeries were easy to get to as well, which was good for frappe & breakfast.

The apartment was not overly close to the beach, and getting there was not easy either. Trying to get a taxi was very difficult at times & the buses ran to their own schedule. I would suggest placing a copy of the bus timetable in the rooms for guests and also some contact numbers for taxis to help get around. I would also suggest marking the hot water system with on and off for ease of use.

Overall good

The apartment was comfortable and walking distance to the village and beach. The kitchen had everything we needed. The shower was nice and hot and the host was accommodating to us having to leave out bags after check in. Overall good.

Although we didn’t mind we were quite surprised that we had to take the bins out as in other apartments we haven’t experienced this. However not a major problem.

Very clean and every thing was ready for use, utensils for cooking, iron for your clothes, coffee for breakfast etc. Everything was well thought by the owner. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Poorly located, unpleasant neighborhood, broken furnishings, I bumped my head on the medicine cabinet every time I stood up from the toilet. Pretty circle stairs were too narrow to take luggage up, so it had to sit in the main room. No place to walk, trash next to the wall outside. Obviously an older place not well- maintained. Not near the sea, though there were pictures of it in the ad. Their brochure is lovely but the place doesn’t measure up.

The apartment was simply perfect. The house was immaculately clean and comfortable, and exceeded my expectations in every way. Artemis, our host, provided great recommendations for local activities, and she was extremely responsive to all my questions and needs. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Porto Rafti.

Disappointing

The organizers were great in terms of communication and organizing transportation. Check in was efficient.

I felt unsafe. The window latch was broken and wouldn't close. Noise travels in the building, you are able to hear everyone that passes through the front entrance. The shower was broken, was an interesting experience trying to shower... Ended up leaving a day early and checked into a different hotel.
