Maison Royale

The owner was incredibly kind. I was suffering from food poisoning and did not come out of my room past noon as I usually did, so he went out of his way to call me. When he realized that I was having trouble understanding English, he messaged me on WeChat instead. After that, he brought me two 1.5-liter bottles of water and two rolls of toilet paper, and told me to let him know if I needed any help. The owner's family also welcomed me with warm smiles, and I felt very at ease. This was my first solo trip abroad, and their kindness made it a truly wonderful memory. It also made me love Vietnam. The bed was very clean.

There were small ants walking near the entrance to the washroom. No matter how many I got rid of, they would appear again the next day. I had heard that this is common in many accommodations in Vietnam, so I was not too surprised, but it would have been nicer if there had been none. Also, the shower water pressure was weak, which made washing my hair a little inconvenient.

I stayed here for four nights and the best part of my stay here was definitely the services and the friendliness of the owner! This is a family-owned hotel, and they are very accommodating to my requests. I asked them about the laundry, and the owner himself told me that he would take care of it all. By the next day, he had it all folded up neatly for me in a basket, so I didn't have to worry about doing any part of the laundry as I went out to do my holiday activities. The owner was also very helpful whenever I asked about recommendations, and also places where I could get specific services done! They also let me sit around at the lobby/receptionist and leave my luggage there while I waited for my flight, so just because you've checked out of your room, it doesn't mean they're immediately going to stop giving you their hospitality. The owner also gave me his phone number for easy contact in emergencies, like the time I accidentally locked myself in my room due to my mistake LOL! Also, AMAZING value for the stay! I mainly picked out this hotel due to its proximity to the 5-star hotel, La Vela Saigon, because my friends were staying at that hotel. Because of La Vela Saigon being a 5-star hotel, there are plenty of nice spots and convenient shops around the area! My favourites have to be the Family Mart on the way to La Vela, the film camera shop, along with Ngam Cafe! If you have the Grab app (The southeast asian Uber/DoorDash), ordering food delivery and getting transport takes very little time! But there are also a ton of restaurants and stalls in the area to explore!

While there isn't actually a curfew, the entrance would be locked from around 1 am, so you would have to ring the bell if you were out for late-night activities. I just felt bad because I felt like I disturbed their sleep whenever I returned late at night. The furniture was also a little bit rough around the edges, like the closet door being a bit stuck, the actual edges on the furniture being a bit sharp and painful (I've stubbed my toe and scratched my shins a few times), and the mattress was pretty hard, which might be good for some people. The water pressure in the shower also feels a bit weak, but it's definitely usable!

The friendly family,the warm welcome and well appointed rooms. They have thought of every little thing including a weighing scale for those who are flying out. Quiet location in a well serviced area. O and a lift!! That's a deal breaker!

The hotel was cozy and clean. Great accommodations for the price! I like the local atmosphere around the hotel. Very good local restaurants and street foods. And most importantly the stuffs here were very helpful and kind. They gave me a lot of information about neighborhoods. Thank you Dung-san!!
