Amazing little cottage

We arrived late at 830pm. Chris was there to meet us, he gave us all the information we needed for our stay. Then he went away and came back with delicious freshly baked scones. There was fresh milk in the fridge and eggs from Chris hens. Enclosed garden for our Labrador. The location is amazing, 2 minutes walk to the river and acres of woodland to explore. The bed was lovely and comfy. Great bedding and towels and good shower. Chris provided lots of information about the local area and dog friendly places to visit. Our favourite beach was Croy. Only a short drive from the bothy. It was very quiet and ideal to let the dog run and swim. Thank you for a lovely stay. We ll certainly be back.

So welcoming. A stunning little house in a stunning location.

Beautiful property in a stunning, peaceful riverside setting. Chris was a wonderful host. Friendly and hugely kind when I had car problems which delayed my leaving. This place is a little gem. Spotless, and equipped and furnished to a really high standard. Lots of special extras like eggs laid by their own hens. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Cosy night away at the Bothy

Chris gave us a wonderful welcome to the property and went above and beyond giving us a lift to the wedding reception we were attending. Little touches made the place homely. Sorry we didn’t get more time to relax and explore the surrounding woodland.

It is set in a beautiful location, quiet and peaceful with lovely walks on your doorstep. The bothy is exactly as described. Spotlessly clean and fully equipped. The free range eggs from the family chickens were a very tasty treat too!

Hidden Gem

This is a hidden gem. It's beautiful and well equipped. The walk by the river is really nice too. We would have loved to have stayed for longer. Complimentary eggs were a thoughtful touch.

Doonbank cottage

It was in a very good location, half an hour away from everywhere we wanted to visit around Ayr, the river beside the property was really nice and relaxing, much better than a hotel, very private and you were left to it, owner lived in property beside the cottage but never seen him till we left. Cottage had everything you need, got free eggs from his chickens on first day and scones which was a nice touch. Would definitely go again

So beautiful, I was worried about the bad as I have a bad back but it was so comfortable and I'd love to know where they got there pillows from. The walks from the door were great and the owners were there if I needed them, my fresh eggs were from Henrietta and so tasty. I will definitely be back.

Brilliant host, lovely accommodation!

The photos don’t do it justice! This place is amazing. The grounds it sits on are stunning and the bed and couch are really comfortable! Brilliant place to wind down and relax! We will be back. Our dogs loved the walk just outside the door. We even got offered hot scones on arrival! What more could you ask for?

If I had to be really picky a wee foot stool in the living room would be nice. But that’s really it.

Great location, Had everything, All amenities and more, views by the river fresh eggs and a friendly welcome and a special mention about the fresh baked scones with butter and Jam, They were honestly the best we have had! The area of Alloway is stunning beautiful houses and scenery We walked 25 miles in 2 days seeing the sights.

Magical and unique peaceful place. True bliss.

Magical location, peaceful and relaxing by the blissful river. Very friendly welcome by Chris, who offered us fresh scones. Comfortable bed, spotless place. Beautiful bathroom with soft towels. Host made an effort by beautifully arranging small stones on the garden steps as a wish for great stay. Truly magical touch. Would definitely return.

The Bothy Cottage is the place to be for a relaxing stay.

The location was excellent and the privacy and quietness also exactly what we required. Proximity to the River Doon was a marvellous bonus. Chris met us on arrival and welcomed us warmly and made us scones. Tasted lovely. The Bothy is a very well laid out relaxing environment. Chris also left us eggs from his hens. Lovely. All in all a great place to unwind. Plenty of wildlife, fox, birds and rabbits.

Beautiful little cottage in a great area.

The place was amazing, the grounds the cottage are on are beautiful and great for a wander. The bed was so comfy and the cottage had everything we might need during our stay. Chris even went above and beyond and dropped us off at Brig O Doon for a wedding we were attending.

The location was excellent for the wedding at the Brig o' Doon Hotel. Enjoyed the secludedness of the bothy. The garden and surrounding woodland was lovely. The bedding and bed were super comfortable.

The Curtains were not clean. Unpleasant-looking staining around the Toilet pan outlet piping. The television in the bedroom had no channels tuned. Food left in the freezer from previous guests. A jug of milk was left in the fridge, unsure if it was the hosts who left it or previous guests.

Absolutely wonderful

Our host could not possibly done more to improve our stay. What a wonderful experience in such a beautifully peaceful part of the world. The accommodation was exceptional with all the amenities you would hope for and more. Eggs from the chickens, you get to know their names and honey from the bee's. Absolutely fantastic.

I could not find a fault and would recommend to anyone in need of a peaceful, relaxing couple of days to book here.

The bothy is so nice and bright and much bigger than we expected. It had everything we needed, and was very comfortable. They were kin,d accommodating, and communicative, and went out of their way to allow us to check in early and take us to our event nearby.

self catered, but a lovely touch was hosts provided homemade scones, fresh milk and fresh eggs as the hens were laying on arrival. Very comfortable cottage. Description of bed says sofa bed, but it is a proper bed and very comfortable. There are 2 tv's, lounge tv worked perfectly, but the bedroom tv wouldn't connect, that was the only niggle and hosts were on hand to sort out any issues, had I taken time to communicate the issue. Otherwise pretty faultless and a super location. Would stay again.

Superb little secret escape

WE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS LITTLE BOTHY. Host met me on arrival with a huge welcoming smile and great sense of humour. He offered us home baked scones. The property sits on country setting, animals, birds, bees the river, no sound of traffic. plenty walking for the dog. They even offer a pet sitting or walking service, the guest book has a detailed description of walk routs and pet friendly restaurants near by. bed was supper comfy and the pillows were incredible. i loved it so much i wanted to stay another night but it was booked up already.

The location was amazing, secluded away from it all feeling. Larger than we thought, woods brilliant for our dog he absolutely loved it. We enjoyed seeing the deer. Fresh milk and warm homemade scones oh my word, delicious.

I loved everything about Doonbank Cottage Bothy. Felt so much like a comfortable home & had everything to hand. We were greeted by Chris on arrival, who was very friendly & helpful. The freshly baked scones with butter & jam went down a treat with a big mug of tea. Perfect start to the holiday. Tried my first fresh duck egg the next morning, which was absolutely delicious. Enjoyed a couple of lovely walks down by the river side, such a beautiful place. The beach, which is also a lovely place, is nearby. I really hope to return to Doonbank Cottage Bothy sometime soon. It's a fantastic place.

Hosts comunicated very well before my arrival. They very kindly offered me an earlier check-in . The information pack left in the property was very helpful & they very kindly left some free-range eggs from their chicken's. The house was very clean,warm, and comfortable.The bedding was superb quality. The quiet location and very large garden leading to woodland and a river was perfect. I highly recommend this property.
