3rd or 4th time at this property and it is our family’s favorite vacation spot. We now come for a week because we found ourselves never wanting to leave. The cabin is amazing. Neat & clean and has all the amenities you’d want. New high speed internet makes it even better if you have to connect for work or school. The property is isolated from other people and you likely won’t see anyone else while you’re there. Gary is an amazing host and goes out of his way for his guests. We will be coming back again, maybe for longer. Thank you Gary! You guys are great!

We took an extended weekend Winter trip with our family. Property was immaculately clean, warm & inviting. Online pictures do not do this listing justice. Truly a site to behold. The property is beautiful and remote. We wanted a chance to unplug and unwind with our adult children. We played games and hiked. There was a ramp for my wheelchair and a bedroom the first floor. Wish the toilet in master bath was higher and had an assist bar. This was the second time at this property and we plan to visitation in the future.

This cabin has everything you would ever want or need. It is fully stocked and nicely furnished. The cabin is great for just couples and families too. The hot tub is an added bonus along with the sites and sounds of the river right outside the cabin. There are several acres to enjoy which contribute to the peace and quiet. We will definitely be staying there again. Highly recommend!!

Great place to disconnect from the stress of everyday life. The cabin and property is stocked with everything you could possibly need. The property is gated and sits on several secluded acres, plenty of room to spread out and spend time with family. The cabin is beautifully furnished with tons of room. The large deck has a wonderful view and relaxing sounds from the river. This place is truly over the top and we will definitely be visiting again.

This is the second year I have stayed at the Riverside Retreat. I waited 365 days to return and counted down every day until my arrival. Mr. and Mrs. Abel are the most amazing and accommodating hosts. The home, the entire property, and surrounding area is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. It’s my happy place. It doesn’t get any more beautiful and peaceful than the Riverside Retreat. I will return.

I cannot say enough about this property. Opened the front door to jazz music playing and a beautiful scent and it just got better from there. The house itself was beautiful. Amazing from start to finish, this house is so well stocked. I have stayed at a few VRBOs and several had the bare, and I mean bare, necessities. This house had a fully stocked kitchen, I packed quite a few things from my personal kitchen but only needed my zester as everything else was there. The towels were so soft and luxurious and the beds were extremely comfy. Picking out our room in the house was a tough decision as they are all so well done and the views from the slider doors on the bottom level are for the books. We were able to float the creek when we went and I hope we are able to make another trip here!

It is definitely out of the way but the seclusion & peacefulness we experienced while getting to enjoy such a beautiful view of the river were top notch!! The house is stately and a lot larger than we expected…plenty of room for all of us to be together yet spend moments alone as well. For being large, it was very well kept & clean which is a must have for us & much appreciated!! Gary & Terri have thought of just about everything that guests might need…bring your food & personal items to be set for a most wonderful getaway. Broken Bow Lake, Beaver’s Bend State Park & Hochatown were less than 90 minutes away so perfect for day trips. Mena, AR was less than 30 minutes away so we went there to get extra groceries. On the days we stayed at the “cabin”….there was no shortage of things to do with fishing, kayaking, hiking/exploring, wading, hot tub time, grilling out, walks, porch time, reading, playing games, watching movies late at night, seeing wildlife, etc. Gary & Terri were also easy to communicate with, replying promptly to any message….giving all necessary information we could have needed or wanted to know. This past week was amazing & we are so blessed to have found such a gem!!

It was our first time renting a cabin and we choose the right one. We took everything but the kitchen sink with us and we got there to cabin only to find they had everything we needed and more. It was so peaceful and beautiful it was just what we all needed. Everyone that was with me had a good time and it was my gift to my family. Can not wait and tell other about this little cabin. We have stayed in 4 cabins in the Smithville/Watson area and this was by far our favorite cabin. We come to Oklahoma to get away from the Dallas area and this place does just that. No cell service and slow WiFi was actually a plus. It forced us to unplug. My kids lived by the river and swam all weekend. The water was clean and refreshing. They swam, fished, caugh crawfish and just enjoyed the outdoors. It was awesome. This house is huge too. For our family of 5 it was actually too big! We are used to a 2 bedroom property and I think this one had 4! Owners were awesome and answered all our question. My only critique (and it’s a very small one) was the grill. It was a little challenging (dirty) to clean out and get going. But we managed just fine. I know grills get a lot of mileage at these cabins so just something I’m pointing out. We will be back. And for much longer! Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend on the river. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and make sure we had everything we needed to maximize our enjoyment. Staying at the Riverside Retreat was my dream vacation. The property is gorgeous and breathtaking. The home is warm, big and cozy, and inviting with all the needed amenities, and more. The interior is absolutely stunning with hard wood floors, stained glass and a porch that never ends. The land is filled with majestic pines and a river that flows with the sounds of serenity. This property brings a sense of peace that you cannot get any where else. Gary and Terri were wonderful and so personable - just "good people" that we all enjoyed having the opportunity to meet and will never forget. We are all grateful for our time at the Riverside Retreat and hope to return - it was absolutely worth the 7 hour drive for me - I only wish I could have stayed......forever.
