Aarunya Nature Resort - Kandy

We had an amazing stay and truly loved every moment of it. A special thank you to Dilshan, who made our first girls’ trip so memorable. We had originally planned to stay within the resort, but thanks to his kindness, professionalism, and the sense of safety he provided, we enjoyed exploring Sri Lanka for two wonderful days and experienced the country in an authentic way. The hotel car was comfortable and perfect for long journeys, the room and views were stunning, and every member of staff was warm and attentive. We also appreciated the complimentary dinner, the free spice garden tour on our arrival day, and the exceptional cleanliness throughout the property. Having a phone and iPad to stay connected with our private butler was a lovely touch. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of service and overall experience made it absolutely worth it. We would happily return.

Great location and wonderful villa

Overpriced food!

This small hotel comprises nine villas set in beautifully kept grounds in the hills outside Kandy. Our villa had views of the sunrise over the mountains, and we were surrounded by forest with many birds, butterflies and animals including deer and monkeys (and one tiny lizard). We ate in the restaurant almost every night and enjoyed fresh produce from the gardens. There is a mix of Western and Sri Lankan food, the traditional curry a particular favourite, all excellent. Any special culinary requests at any time were catered for. The villa was peaceful, except for the expected forest sounds, with a small private pool and an outdoor jacuzzi. In the morning the patio was sunny, and in the evening we relaxed in the shade and looked out over the forest. There is a larger, shared pool for swimming, with magnificent views. Particular thanks to all the helpful staff, especially Dulan and Geetha the managers, Lakshman the butler and Dilshan our driver who did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one. The service provided was the very best. We enjoyed several excursions: of particular note the Buddhist Temple of the Tooth and the wild elephant safari. After a week there were still many things that we had not seen. The whole experience was definitely worth the price paid. It is a friendly hotel and we would gladly return.
