Felt regretful to choose this hotel and that room specifically.

Location was perfectly central near Zicatela

The room was very old. The bed was wood, and there were very tiny wood insects walking. Also I saw spiders and their networks in the corners of the room. I totally disliked it! I turned the lights on during my sleep not to be with all the insects in the dark!

Decent place to stay in Puerto Escondido - Relaxed vibes

The room and view were amazing, clean and comfortable. Almost too big for just the two of us. Can't explain how stunning the view from our balcony over Zicatella beach was. The pictures provided online do not do it justice at all, it was a pleasant surprise. Only downside was, the staff were asleep when we arrived late around 11.30pm so we had to wait on the street at night till she woke up to let us in, around 20 minutes, but that's ok we understood. Other downside was the lack of wifi and TV did not work, the staff explained they were trying to get it fixed but it unfortunately never was fixed. The wifi worked most of the time the TV never worked at all, it's not a deal breaker but when staying somewhere for 7 nights it would have been nice to sit down and watch TV after a long day at the beach. All in all decent stay and I would stay again :)

Not Thrilled

Beautiful exterior grounds and pool area. Beautiful view of the ocean from our apartment. Felt safe with the large fence around the compound. Close to the Mercado, the ocean and restaurants. Air conditioning in the bedrooms worked well. The maids were nice.

We arrived in the dark and there was no lighting on the stairs so I sprained my ankle the first night. All the rooms were dark with one lonely low watt bulb hanging from the ceiling of each. The bathroom was really dark and you couldn't see yourself in the mirror, or to shave. It was spartan which is fine but it was run down. The ceiling fans were rusty with exposed wire. There was mold in the bathroom. There was a giant hole in one of the closets covered with an old rag. So yeah, this place was reasonably priced but i don't want to come back. There are no washcloths, no bath mat except a frayed cloth. We were given three towels and I had to explain why I wanted a 4th towel to the owner which annoyed me. One day our bathroom flooded so it was good to have all the towels we could get. We were only given one set of keys and it seemed like a big deal to get a second set. The wifi didn't work, but I had 4G so that was ok. On our last day there was a planned power outage which wasn't the hotel's fault, however they didn't tell us in advance.

Exceptional

It was very easy, the host provide us the key at the same time that we entered to room. The staff was very friendly all the time, all the place was cleaned all the time.

Well, I don´t have big comments. because It was amazing. Just there were some insects at the night (ants) were annoying, but it was not a big issue.

We had cockroaches every night, even though they offered an extra cleaning they kept coming back.

Great location, poor customer service, lacking amenities.

The location is great! We could walk to the main commercial area of the beach and it was an easy uber to all parts of the Town, including Punta. The grounds are very pretty and you do feel like you are in a secluded and lush area of this great little beach town.

The air conditioning and electricity went out in the middle of our second night. It was extremely hot and we were unable to stay any longer, despite trying to be patient waiting for it to all come back on. The property manager was somewhat empathetic, but we have yet to receive a partial refund for our stay. The place it dark inside, yet no window coverings, so we felt a little too visible. We asked for additional towels and were told one per guest for our entire 3 night stay (which turned out to be only 2 nights). No hot water in the shower. One small bar of soap. The kitchen facilities were lacking and I would not have wanted to cook there. Overall, fairly poor customer service. They did not even offer to bring us candles or a flashlight as we went into the evening with no electricity, which is why we ultimately had to leave and find another place.

Laid back vibe

Location was a short walk to the beach, shops, market and cafes. The balcony was awesome with a hammock and we sat outside most evenings after dinner, and in the morning with our coffee. A swim up bar in to the pool offered snack and drinks for a bargain!

Not enough hooks, racks to hang towels or bathing suits - it looked like there were towel racks at one point, but they came out of the wall. We did hang wet towels on the doors and outside on the balcony.

Clean and comfortable accommodations near Playa Zicatela

I collected the keys by texting one of the hosts--they had provided a number via the booking.com messages prior to our arrival. Texting, cell service, and mobile internet is spotty at best in the area, so some of our messages were delayed but it worked out well and the host was pleasant and helpful. The staff of the hotel where this unit is located made sure we had towels, toilet paper, and other housekeeping services. The apartment was private, having it's own patio with table, kitchen, and living room. The bedroom had a very strong A/C unit that kept it comfortable at night. We watched some cable television, cooked meals, went to the pool, and got to walk to restaurants and shops only a few blocks away. A very short walk to the ocean and nice courtyard are accessible to the apartment.

No A/C in the living room--but it wasn't a problem during our stay as we opened the patio door for a breeze.

Pretty but problematic

The bed was very comfortable. The view was great. The apartment was spacious. Every thing was reasonably clean and it was cleaned thoroughly twice during our one week stay. The pool was small but quite pleasant. There was a new café where you could get simple meals and drinks for a reasonable price. There was an on-site washing machine free to use.

There was no potable water when we arrived on Sunday and none until late Tuesday afternoon. We were given, without consultation, a different apartment than we booked and, while it was larger, it was a little shabby and had poor lighting especially in the bathroom. Moreover, it was high up with lots of stairs which at 70 with bad knees was difficult for both of us. There was no one to assist with luggage. Deficiencies were generally addressed though not always quickly and some staff seemed to resent being asked (though others were quite pleasant and helpful. )

Many apartments at hotel - would try another next time.

Pool was so refreshing - and the new restaurant on-site was was handy, good food. The 1 bedroom apartment had been updated: kitchen sink was huge, granite counters. Beautiful table. Bathroom counter & sink all renovated, quality fixtures.

The 1-bedroom apartment we had was dark, not enough lighting in bathroom or kitchen (which made it a challenge to cook in the evening).

Fantastic just a little tired

The apartment was spacious and the bed was enormous and comfortable. The air conditioner worked well and was quiet while sleeping. The gardens are beautiful and the pool was warm and clean.

We really enjoyed our stay and the location was ideal for us, close to the action but far enough away to not be disturbed. The only negative would be the tired condition of the apartment. It was tired but they are updating the other apartments and I’m sure in time they will all be amazing. I would suggest you ask for an updated apartment when you book, which I would suggest you do if going to that area.

The only thing pretty about this place are the grounds.

The unit was dark and dirty, especially the bathroom. The door's locks were the cheap ones that anyone could open with any knife, making you feel not very safe and secure, and one of the rooms had a huge hole in the closet. The curtains were also very dirty. I would never stay there again.

Great location but rooms could use some updating

Great location -- could see the ocean from the balcony. A 5-minute walk to beach and restaurants. Comfy beds. Pretty grounds and pool area. Our flight got delayed unexpectedly and staff was nice enough to let us pay a small fee for a (very) late check out. Not many people around, but staff quickly answered phone calls.

Although the rooms were spacious and the views great, the amenities were very old. There was no place to hang towels, as the towel racks had fallen off the walls. Rooms are sparsely decorated, and marks on the walls. We even had to turn off the ceiling fan because hardware was falling out of it and we were afraid it was going to come off the ceiling. Rules state there are fees if you stain the sheets/towels, but ours already had stains on them. Toiletries rack in shower had old browning soap and was rusty.

jumping roaches to bed

The pool and the grounds were beautiful, wish they would have had some picnic tables around the gardens so you could sit and enjoy them. The best part was the garden and the pool.

We indicated we would arrive at a specific time 6PM-7PM it was raining cats and dogs on the tail of the hurricane. Nobody answered the phone, there was no info on how to get into property. We literally had to bang and break into front gate to find someone to let us into our room. Room had cockroaches and palm bugs that were relentless. Internet was less than reliable, electricity also was less than reliable. The bathroom shower was terrible, dirty and gross.
