From the minute we got off the ferry on Molat and our host, Carmen, welcomed us like family with hugs, we fell in love the little island and its people! Carmen and her husband, Goran, helped us with our luggage to their cute apartment where they gave us a quick overview and a bottle of wine with fresh muffins. Molat is absolutely a paradise and their apartment had the perfect view of the beautiful harbor. It’s conveniently located directly above the town café for a coffee in the morning, and a beer or wine in the afternoon. My sister and I were travelling with our husbands, so we were pleased to find that there were two bathrooms, complete with hot water. At night we closed the shutters, windows and shades which made it both dark and quiet well into the morning; and the beds, bedding and pillows were all very comfortable, which helped us get some much-needed rest. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities, although we didn’t cook any meals there. Our reason for visiting Molat was to locate our grandfather’s house and learn more about our family’s history there. Carmen was excited to take us around the island to show us the houses and introduce us to people who could help us in our quest. We were so heartened by the warmth and friendliness of Carmen and all the people we met on Molat during our short stay. We definitely plan to return again (soon I hope), to stay in their lovely apartment and discover more about the beautiful island of Molat and our family roots!
