Waimeha Camping Village

I love waimeha village to get away from city life. Unwind relax. Get out on the bike and hike.

Be prepared for basic amenities. Shared shower and toilet and kitchen although kitchen has all necessary utensils.

Views and area

We loved everything. So relaxing and so welcoming. The Pinnacles walk up top and below. The lighthouse. The black sand beaches. The surfers a few minutes walk down the drive. The owner/s were delightful at check in. Showers and toilets spotless. The cabin had everything we needed. A middle of the night bathroom visit rewarded us with a cloudless and beautiful starry night unmatched since we were in Tibet back in 1987. The coastal drive here was magnificent.

Not a problem but would have been nice to eat in their restaurant but sadly it was closed, I think due to being late in the season. So remember to email ahead to check. Otherwise do what we did - bring your groceries with you and use the large kitchen which is well kitted out.

It was basically clean, but I cleaned the kitchen window and benchtop behind the microwave, and the carpet needed replacing. The place just felt too rustic for us and didn't 'feel' clean. The neighbours who were about 3 metres away started up saws & other machinery used to build some sort of structure, not ideal when you're trying to relax with a class of wine on the deck We couldn't fully lock the place & the windows rattled badly on the very windy night we had. Although the sign gave opening hours for the bar and restaurant, it was closed when we arrived back on Monday afternoon. Luckily, we had food as there was nowhere open to buy anything and no one at reception.
