Perfect for a family holiday

Family break

The location was great at the farm, with access to walks around the reservoir. Not too distant to Penyrn for shops.

There was no staff to meet us, not that we needed anyone as the house was open. There were many basics missing like salt, pepper, oil, foil, etc, that we had to source to prepare a meal on the bank holiday weekend. We left all that behind, so hopefully, others will not have the same issue. The quantity of cutlery and china were minimal. The welcome book promised a Cornish cream tea on arrival, but the most accomplished chef would struggle to make that out of a pint of milk and nothing else. We couldn't find the WiFi password despite the three of us looking many times. I asked online whilst out, but no reply from Sykes, despite around 25 emails between booking and staying. Way too many and mostly pointless. If a bossy rule sheet for dogs can be framed, maybe put the password in something similar. Although there are many facilities on site, some were at extra cost. It's not as if the general public will wander in, so it seems a bit excessive. Both the house and dog/barbeque field are not dog secure. The house was far too hot with no windows, only doors which, when put on the restricting straps, still let dogs through. None of these made it a bad place, just a series of annoyances that presented itself as the antithesis of what a holiday ought to be.

Good location

The property is in a good location. The reservoir is down the road and is a good walk with the dog. A handy secure paddock for the dog to run around in.

Our booking must have ‘slipped through the net’ as the property was not ready, the beds were not made and there was no linen (the owner had to come in and correct this for us). The property didn’t look clean on arrival. There was a bad mould problem in the back double bedroom with an unpleasant smell, the room was not nice to sleep in so we stayed in the single beds instead. Blinds were all nearly falling off the doors, and multiple blinds had mould spots all up them. The door seals had begun to rot away, and the door keys were completely rusty which made it really hard to lock the door and unlock in the mornings. Not quite as clean and made up as seen in the photos, quite worn and the damp/mould is a real issue.

Lovely apartment, well furnished in a very quiet location. Easy access to all areas of Cornwall.

Difficult so see out of driveway but able to creep out. No problems when it was dark as you could see head lights.
