Mola di Bari is a fishing port 20km south of Bari. It was excellent for visiting places like Alberobello, Matera, Ostuni, Polignano a Mare and Castelana Grotte which were mostly within an hour’s drive from Mola. There were a few restaurants within walking distance, a pizzeria next door and several restaurants in the marina area a few minutes drive away. A car is recommended. The apartment is huge with a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 large balconies. Antonio was an exceptional host. His wife sent us in dinner one evening of homemade stuffed mussels in a tomato sauce with spaghetti; and when we were leaving Antonio presented us with two large containers of orecchiette (the pasta of the Puglia region) which he had made himself. We have travelled the world and have never experienced such hospitality.
