El Matador is truly a beach resort. Just two miles down Santa Rosa Blvd at the end of the Island you will find us – secluded but still just a few minutes to all the amenities that Destin and Fort Walton Beach have to offer. Just six miles down Hwy. 98 you can enjoy Destin – “ The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” – charter a private trip or take the kids out on a group boat and catch dinner. While in Destin enjoy fine restaurants, shopping, and golfing on some of the best golf courses in the Panhandle of Florida. Hard to believe that you might need a day off from the beach but if you do take the family to Big Kahunas Water Park in the center of old Destin. Much more than just a water park… it’s a day of fun!

Back at the El Matador enjoy the large grass areas between our buildings just right for family fun and games. I’m not the type to leave reviews, but in this case I had too. As I stated the location and views were amazing. The home was nice as well, but the roaches were a bit much for us. Once you turn out the lights you’re in for an extra surprise! They were everywhere from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedroom! They were all in the microwave. I think they just need to get someone in there to treat that issue

Stayed 4 days and didn't realize the 3 tiny bugs we saw upon entering were baby roaches. Ate breakfast out on the balcony, eggs & bacon. Nothing inside. Ate all other meals out. Last night arrived back to find 18 roaches throughout condo. One on the wall outside the bedroom, another near the glass door to balcony, bunch in kitchen, one crawling up dishwasher, running under wall in entryway, behind the sofa (everywhere!). Obviously being next to the laundry room is an issue. Carpets and floor are filthy, needs cleaning. Seemed like many lights were not working. Very bad water pressure in shower, the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Did not provide paper towels or dish soap to wash pots and pans! Really I have to buy a bottle of Dawn dishwashing soap & a roll of paper towels when I spent four hundred per night for this short trip?! After booking it seemed like there was an additional two hundred fee added, but as I had spent days trying to make this last minute trip happen and had no time left I couldn't look elsewhere. The nice lounges and umbrellas on the beach are not included in the price either. I showed pictures to rental agent who said she was "surprised since we were on the top floor not the first floor" (so that sounds like they know the building has a roach problem) and they'll let the building manager know. Very unhappy with their response.

Our rental was clean, comfortable,relaxing and well stocked with everything needed. Pictures and description were accurate, however, it would have been helpful had the description stated the unit was on the 6th floor. When arriving on Sunday, our unit's keys were not available at Alicia Hollis' Office lock box. After waiting about an hour, we were forced to contact the emergency "on call" representative who came and found the keys still locked in the Office. There were others in the same predicament. Office staff did not contact us to offer an explanation or apology for our inconvenience.

We were also very close to Eglin Airforce base, we were able to see a few really awesome aircraft throughout the day from the balcony, but if you are inside the condo you can rarely hear the planes at all. The best part is that you are close to everything, but far enough away to avoid crowds!

We love the El Matador and this was the first time at this property. The view of the pool and beach are amazing and this condo is right next to the laundry room for convenience! I will say we were disappointed in the condition of the condo. The floors and carpet were so dirty we had to wear shoes the entire time or our feet were black. The ceiling fan in the living room was missing a blade and did not work. The air conditioning in the bedroom was not great so sleeping at night was a little stuffy. Overall I think the condo has a lot of potential but could use a little attention.

Overall a great experience. The view is incredible, the pool is fantastic and the beach access is phenomenal. Not to mention having 13 miles of undeveloped beaches as your neighbor is fantastic. Kids were with us, 9 and 6, and they slept great on the pullout couch and really loved the pool and crab hunting experience. Would stay here again, without question. Only critiques would be that the door to the balcony needs repaired - it’s old and it’s just time as it’s just not easy to open and shut anymore. Second, time for a new fridge. Loud and struggles to keep things cold unless it’s on the “coldest” setting and I was afraid I was stressing it too much when I put it on that setting. If those two things were fixed there wouldn’t be a better property on the island

El Matador is awesome. Last property before the raw beach bordering Eglin AFB, so beach seems less crowded. This unit with a great view from 6floor balcony. Interior could use some updates. Deck door a little sticky. Mattress needs replaced. But overall not worth downgrade of rating. We’ll be back with our kids!

On the way to our rental I had to call and ask for check in instructions because they failed to send any. The lady had trouble even finding my booking. She said I was supposed to have been mailed a packet (which I was not). Come to find out, you have to stop by a realty office to get the keys to the unit (I wouldn’t have known had I not called 4 hours before check in). Which is fine if I had been notified of that before. Upon arrival there were multiple stains on the master comforter and sheets, water damage and mold growing on the master windows, living room couch and coffee table had stains all over. Refrigerator stopped working and all of our food was spoiled during our stay. I emailed the host about these things with no response. My husband used the recliner a lot during our stay and all kinds of stuff fell out of the back of the chair. Crumbs, camera, headphones. The only good thing I have to say is location is good, kitchen was clean and bathroom was decent. The mark was totally missed on communication. I think with mold growing the unit is unsafe. Would not book this property again.

We stayed in condo 365 this year and have to admit we were pretty disappointed in its state. The furniture is very old and uncomfortable and there were many items that other condos included especially in the kitchen, that this condo did not. If we were to stay again we would rent a condo like 360 where you feel like you get your money’s worth.

Pretty clean and not crowded. Only 2 rolls of TP for the whole week…..thought that was pretty chincy due to the unit price. AC in the bedroom not working very well, so be prepared to be warm at night. Living room ceiling fan doesn’t work. Other than that not a bad place to stay, I’d give it a 7/8 out of 10.

I was lucky enough to find a unit in building 3! Gulf view facing west. The unit was very clean and updated. I watched the sunset from the balcony every evening I could. There is nothing more relaxing and refreshing than to wake up to the sound and sight of the ocean with the wall of windows in the bedroom. The staff at Alicia Hollis Realty were also so very nice and polite. I highly recommend them.
