We have just returned from our week long stay at La Muche. The house is located in the middle of the woods, resulting in a very quiet, relaxing stay. The area is great for exploring. Omaha beach is only 1 1/2 hours away, so we visited there. Caen is one hour, Honfleur 40 minutes, so lots of things to see and do. From the house you can wander in the woods and explore for hours on end. There is a supermarket within a 10 minute drive, you could walk it in one hour if you wanted. Communication with the owner and also with Annie was great. Annie was very reachable via Whatsapp and could answer all the questions. We were able to let ourselves in the house upon arrival and met Annie close after. The house has all the neccesities and more! The large fireplace is a winner, we spend all our evenings surrounding the fire. Wood is provided, in our case it was charged up front when booking with VRBO. The kitchen is old but modern at the same time, with a perfect oven and dishwasher. There is plenty of space surrounding the house, with ample outside seating opportunities, and the view is great. Arrival is on small dirt roads, but well maintained. The shower is in the basement, there are 2 toilets on the groundlevel and upstairs. Also a bath with loose showerhead. Three bedrooms, with one large master, one small master and one single. As always in France, the beds are a little bit short for us, but that is just a small issue. All in all, great place, would visit absolutely again!

Finding your way to La Muche can be challenging but it is part of the adventure. When you arrive you will realise the effort was worthwhile. It’s a beautiful property in a brilliant location. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this property.

The beautiful house is on a very unique location, in the middle of a forest, with lots of privacy and a big garden. There are many things to see and do in the area, like canoeing, walking, swimming in the lake close by, and visit nice towns and markets.

If you want Paris, go to Paris. If you like peace and quiet, and some history, then go to this gite. Very relaxing, not far at all from anywhere. The land of Joan of Arc and Edith Piaf among many. Try and stay off the autoroutes and see some local architecture. Fabulous area. Madame Jouveaux was a delight and very French of course. Would we go back ? - bien sur.

This is truly a fairytale woodcutter's cottage deep in the Bois du Val Accard. It is well equipped, furnished in an antique style and comfortable in all respects. It is very peaceful and relaxing with only the sound of the birds (loads of owls), the heehaw of a neighbouring donkey, bark of a neighbouring dog or the odd aircraft passing overhead. It is somewhat remotely located literally in the middle of the woods along a 1Km track off the tarmac road and 1Km from the nearest neighbour. The immediate vicinity is a farming community with widespread village - very pleasant walking country. Only room for improvement might be the directions - it was a bit of a struggle finding it first time around even using google maps and other SatNav - access along Rue du Val Accard is barred/impossible and the actual access road is not immediately obvious - we needed help and would not have liked to have arrived after dark. Otherwise a memorable vacation allowing us day trips to Bayeux, Caen, Pointe du Hoc, St.Valery en Caux, Rouen and often to Pont Audemer for shopping.

We had a wonderful week in La Muche, it was so lovely waking up every morning and all we could hear were the birds. The children (5 & 2) had a fantastic time in the garden, they loved having the freedom of exploring in the woods etc. The location was perfect for exploring, we visited some local towns and it was ok driving distance for Honfleur, Deauville etc. The facilities in the house were great, it had everything we needed and there was ample space for a family of 4. Thank you so much!

We very much enjoyed our stay at LaMuche, especially warming by the fireside on the cool evenings we experienced in late March / early April. LaMuche is definitely ‘away from it all’ and very quiet, save for the owls and other nighttime wildlife sounds of the forest. Some level of French fluency is required as this is not in the heart of tourist country, but D-Day attractions, Honfleur, Etretat and Monet country are close enough for day outings. Even Paris is only a few hours away. Madame Leroux was very helpful when assistance was needed. Thanks Elie, for a great vacation getaway.

Picture perfect French countey home with all the needed amenities, it far exceeded my expectations. Owner was very helpful with directions to sights close by. House is in a peaceful location with a beautiful forest all around. Centrally located for day trips to Rouen, Honfleur, Bayeux, Caen and Mont St. Michel. Loved the huge fireplace to warm us since our time there was rainy and chilly. So busy we didn't have time to visit the chalets not too distant from the home. Suspect we shall return to La Muche. Very glad we had someone with us who spoke fluent French. Madame Laroux, the property manager, was fantastic.

A unique and fabulous property

A unique and fabulous property

La Mûche is nestled in the middle of a forest but directions to the property are excellent. Blissfully quiet, bright and welcoming and equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay. We arrived in Normandy during a very cold spell but the large open fire and limitless wood made our evenings cosy and relaxed. Our daughter loved exploring the forest and it is easy to spend peaceful days in and around the house but there’s also plenty to do for families nearby. Ten minutes away by car is the start of the Greenway (Pont Authou), where you can hire bikes for the day and ride safely without any vehicles for miles with a number of towns on-route to explore. Pont Audemer again only a ten minute drive away is an attractive town with a large street market twice a week and La Gargouille in the centre is a great place for lunch. Paris is also commutable by taking the train directly from Bernay - easy and inexpensive (also free parking at the station). All in all a wonderful property providing a real holiday escape, we will certainly return to this little haven.

I can only sing praises about this location, The location is great, secluded yet within easy access of Rouen, Honfleur and small local towns. The main roads from Calais to here are superb. We arrived slightly early because of this. The house is lovely, very warm and homely, beautifully furnished. All home comforts are here too washer, dryer, dishwasher. The Risle valley is beautiful, We went early April just before Spring had sprung, I would imagine it's breathtaking in the summer. The region is very French which is great, but you will need to brush up on your French language. I plan to return here again and would strongly recommend it to couples and adult groups. I think children with a thirst for the outdoors will love it too and would enjoy exploring the forest and country lanes. Many thanks to the Owner and Mme L for a lovely Holiday Andre B

Das Haus liegt mitten im Wald auf einer Lichtung am Rand des Plateaus. Im Umkreis stehen hohe Eichen und Birken gesäumt von Büschen aus Azaleen, Kamelien, Rhododendron und dunkelroten Sträuchern, durchsetzt mit verschiedenartigen Rosenstöcken. Anfang Mai blühten die Kamelien, die Azaleen und der Rhododendron, als ihre Blüten hinüber waren, öffneten sich die Rosen. Die große Wiese vor dem Haus war übersät mit Gänseblumen und Butterblumen; dazwischen eine Orchidee, wie sie zu Dutzenden auf einem Weg im Wald wachsen. Das Ungewohnteste für einen Großstädter war, dass das lauteste Geräusch der Ruf des Kuckucks war; zumeist war der Gesang der Buchfinken, Rotkelchen und Amseln zu hören und hin und wieder in der Ferne das Krähen eines Hahnes. Das Haus – in normannischem Fachwerk – zeigt auch im Inneren die Holzkonstruktion an Wänden und Decke. Eingerichtet mit den landesüblichen Holzmöbeln und alten Kommoden und Tischchen ist das Wohn- und Esszimmer sehr einladend. Und obwohl das Ambiente rustikal ist, ist man dank W-Lan mit der Welt verbunden. Für die Beheizung des offenen Kamins braucht es wohl gewisser Erfahrungen. Kurz: La Muche ist ein Ort, um die Seele „baumeln“ zu lassen, mit den Augen in der Natur zu spazieren, den Vögeln zuzuhören und ruhig zu werden.

Maison louée pour une semaine de vacances avec 2 amies, qui correspond exactement à ce que nous voulions : très calme (maison isolée au milieu de la forêt, sans personne autour), cheminée qui fonctionne parfaitement, très correctement équipée (nombreux ustensiles de cuisine, wifi, petite TV…). Toute la maison est d’une propreté irréprochable. Accueil très chaleureux et sympathique à notre arrivée.

Nous sommes séjourné quelques jours début Mars dans cette demeure typiquement normande et bien aménagée. Le lieu se trouve au coeur d'un espace boisé magnifique et est parfait pour ceux qui souhaitent rester au calme proche de la nature. La maison et les extérieurs sont très bien entretenus et l'intérieur est très cosy avec sa cheminée feu de bois. Il y a tout l'équipement nécessaire pour passer d'agréables moments. Le propriétaire a été très réactif pour échanger et fournir toutes les informations quant au logement. Il y a tout les services de proximité dans la ville proche avec beaucoup d'activités possibles de marche et de loisirs. Honfleur n'est situé qu'à 40 minutes de voiture. Cette escapade normande fut pour nous idéale !

Pour les amoureux de la nature et du calme l'emplacement de ce gîte est parfait pas une route a moins de 1 km complètement encaisser dans la forêt avec juste une vue dégagée au loin sur le lac de Condé sur risle. Tout est à disposition dans le gîte modernisé, même le petit nécessaire de base sopalin, torchons, papier toilette, savon. L'accueil chaleureux et dynamique d'Annie pour nous expliquer des consignes de base et répondre à nos questions est un vrai plus. Parfait pour un retraite en tout tranquilité. Le mot confinement là bas prend un autre sens. On a hâte de pouvoir y retourner à la belle saison ou en automne.

We waren verrast dat onze cottage midden in een privébos stond. We konden genieten van alle rust en natuur die dit ons bood en het aangezicht van het huis en de zon droeg ook bij aan ons vakantiegenot. Een grote tuin rondom het huisje zorgde ervoor dat de zon op ieder moment van de dag wel ergens scheen. We genoten dan ook volop van ontbijt buiten in de zon en 's avonds zaten we altijd achter het huisje dat uitzicht bood op de vallei aan de Risle. We werden vriendelijk onthaald door onze gastvrouw die ons ook tips gaf voor de omgeving. We hebben natuurlijk ons 'eigen bos' verkend maar ook de omgeving is hier erg mooi. Bezoek zeker de abdij in Bec Hellouin en wanneer je van lekker eten en tafelen houdt reserveer dan een tafel in Le Petit Coq aux Champs in Campigny.

De perfecte plek voor rustzoekers. Waar wij blijkbaar overheen hadden gelezen, was het feit dat achteraf de stookkosten voor CV en warm water betaald moesten worden. We hebben hier 10 dagen verbleven in een wat frisse periode en betaalden na afloop ongeveer 45 euro hiervoor.

La maison est très mignonne, beaucoup de charme, perdue au milieu de la forêt. Elle mériterait peut-être quelques rafraîchissements (salle de bain principalement) mais rien de dérangeant. De supers promenades à faire aux alentours. Une cheminée pour les soirées un peu fraîches. Nous avons passé un long week-end très reposant. Je recommande vivement !
