House with private pool and fantastic views of Gerês

Neither pictures nor words capture this property. Our group of 8 (2 families) stayed here in August, and the space is spectacular. We spent hours outside - moving between the porch with the stunning views, the pool where the kids played for hours while adults read; and ending the evenings with an outdoor dinner by the grill. There was ample space to spread out, and the property was gorgeously landscaped. We loved hearing the tinkle of bells as goats roamed the hills nearby. The kitchen was well stocked, and we especially enjoyed cooking on the barbecue outside (and learned it uses a lot of charcoal! part of the fun of cooking in a new place!). The 4 bedrooms and 2 baths fit our group well. The mattresses were quite firm- but as one person noted - it made getting out of bed quite easy! Communication with the hosts was top notch and any needs that arose were immediately and totally addressed. They truly went above and beyond. We also appreciated that this location felt off the beaten path. Our impression was that we were vacationing alongside other Portuguese tourists, with some French families too. We spent enjoyable days exploring Geres and scenic drives nearby; going to Braga for a stadium tour and a visit to Bom Jesus; and exploring castles in the surrounding areas. Such a memorable get away.

We had a wonderful stay at the house with our family. The home is beautiful and well equipped. The view is amazing, as well as the pool and outside areas. The staff were extremely helpful, including Sofia and Claudia. We will definitely consider staying again at this property.

The view from the balcony was absolutely stunning. Could hear the wolves at night and several different bird of prey around, day and night.the apartment itself was ok, but a little tired and could do with some care -The blind fell down in the kitchen without ever being touched, the kitchen cupboards all creaked (But not half as much as the bedroom floor that could be heard throughout the house at night if someone got up to the toilet.) We decided not to use the bedrooms downstairs as it meant 24 steps, that you are not aware of in the listing - the lower you went down the damper it smelled, it was not inviting , sadly. We had concerns with the balcony railings as they were not as solid as they should be and would worry if there were young children or unsteady adults. There was a small bucket on the balcony full of cigarette ends that had not been cleared away.Lots of steps outside for anyone unsteady on their feet or young, not obvious in listing. The swimming pool was lovely on the hot weeks we were there but only one umbrella for shade.We used the voucher for the hike and 'jeep' tour offered. The scenery in the area is stunning. People very friendly, not many spoke English, but could converse in French. A few good restaurants around and roads in June pretty quiet. We enjoyed the stay but a little disappointed that as expensive as it was there wasn't any welcome pack such as wine or local produce. Money needs to be invested to improve safety and comfort.
