Enjoy stunning tree-lined views of the Western Foothills of Maine in this classically built wood chalet. This home features a beautiful deck, well-stocked game room, and fantastic access to nearby ski slopes, hiking trails, and the White Mountain National Forest.

This home sits among the pines southwest of downtown Bethel, where its two-and-a-half acres overlook the Sunday River Valley. Find yourself at the entrance to White Mountain National Forest within minutes, pick up groceries or dine out at one of the excellent restaurants in Bethel seven miles northeast, and spend the winter skiing and snowboarding at Sunday River Resort 12 miles north.

Built in the winter of 2017, this all-seasons chalet is ideal for hikers, river rafters, leaf-peepers, and winter sports enthusiasts. Kick off your shoes and make yourself at home in the two-story great room, where you can curl up by the gas fireplace on soft leather furnishings, watch movies on the 55-inch Smart TV, and soak in the sunset view through picture windows that frame the national forest.

Gather around the kitchen island to chat with your family's designated chef, or make the great outdoors your kitchen, spending summer evenings on the deck grilling, dining, or sipping wine. You can also pull up a bench and watch the stars at the fire pit below (kindling supplied, and logs are freely available at most local farms). Retreat indoors for a night of foosball, hoop-shooting, and movies in the game room. Free WiFi, Amazon Prime and Hulu streaming, and a Bose or Amazon Echo bluetooth speaker are also provided for your enjoyment!

When you're not taking autumn rides on the Conway Scenic Railroad, photographing covered bridges, or cross-country skiing in some of New England's loveliest landscapes, you'll find plenty of craft shops, dining spots, and seasonal live music in town. Back at the house, you'll have your choice of two master suites, a kids room with bunk beds, an additional guest room and a pull-out futon, for blissful nights of restful sleep.

Treat yourself to a one-of-a-kind stay in the mountains of Maine - book today!

We had a wonderful stay at The Escape at ThunderSnow. The property is new, clean, and incredibly well-stocked. We found the bedroom and bathroom configuration just right for our group of 6 family and friends. We were there during an unprecedented few days of high winds and the internet and power both went out for about 8 hours one day; the property manager was extremely responsive and communicative during this time. Would highly recommend, and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

Overall, we did enjoy our stay and would return! A few notes: There seemed to be a small bug problem. I'm not sure if the house hadn't been in use in a while. There were a few dead flies when we arrived, and several I noticed in the lamp next to the bed, as well as in the door to the porch. There were a ton of ladybugs and a few ants (I think I saw 4 or 5 different ones in the bathroom on the first floor by the bedroom). I wish we had known the heat was down so far. Unfortunately, we were traveling a bit of a distance and didn't arrive until after 9pm and it took so long to warm up the house that we all had trouble sleeping that first night. It would be great to get some kleenex for the house and I'm not sure if the ice maker was broken or we just couldn't figure out how to make it dispense ice. The water pressure was disappointing. Oh, the mattress on the top floor (the king) was really uncomfortable so that was also a bummer. There was a slightly musty smell but I am very sensitive to odors and I'm not sure it would bother most people. As I mentioned above, we did enjoy our stay and would return! The house was well appointed (more big coffee mugs would be great though!), cozy, and well-decorated. Good games, lots of cute touches. My son loved the basketball game.

We arrived at the home and we loved it, it was beautiful, clean and exactly how it was described. The description states the home is air conditioned. It had a small unit in the kitchen and one in the upstairs bedroom. The house was 87 degrees when we arrived, we put the ac on in the kitchen and it barely cooled it down. The unit was much too small to keep up for that size room. The couple downstairs was miserable both nights because of the heat. The couple on the main floor had a fan so that helped somewhat. The house was 87-85 degrees all weekend and that was with windows open. The ac unit in the kitchen froze and was shooting ice out and then we had to shut it off. We called the rental company to let them know what happened Saturday morning. We told them that something needed to be done, perhaps swap out the ac unit for one that worked. She assured us someone would get back to us via text or email. We never heard from anyone. I’m sorry but as beautiful as we found the home, saying that the house is “air conditioned” is woefully inadequate especially during the summer months. Then to add insult to injury no one got back to us after we had a discussion with someone on Saturday morning when the house was a whopping 86 degrees at 9:30a. Unfortunately, due to poor communication on behalf of the management company and how hot it was all weekend we will not be renting this home again.
