Caves 1880

Location was great in a small village with restaurants and shops still close and a short walk to oia. Sunset was beautiful from the property too

This was a unique cave hotel. We stayed here with another couple. Each room had its own small kitchen. The rooms were not deluxe, but quite efficient and well priced for its closeness to Oia (about a 10 minute walk). We had our own patio with a fabulous view. It was a bit of a rough uphill hike to get to it from the parking area. I guess that's typical of the area, but we didn't know about it in advance. Mikos was kind enough to help us with our luggage. There were a couple of nice restaurants close by.

It was very nice. Nikos explained us very well about santorini and apartment.

The surroundings is quiet. Niko , who helps manage the property is a very kind and tried to provide an introduction to the island and where to visit and to eat. The kitchen is well equipped and the room spacious

The location is actually a bit further out then some of the reviews suggest. The 15-20mins walk is to the start of Oia town, another 10-15mins to the centre. In the middle of a heatwave , it's not pleasant. After a near fainting episode tried to cancel the last night to actually stay in the town centre( there were places with similar prices, caves wasnt chosen as being a cheaper option). Understandably a lastminute change wasnt possible , so stayed indoors for the day and ventured out for dinner after sunset. A bit of a waste of a day. There is only a small window in the bathroom and one in the kitchen door so not much ventilation...feels stuffy and humid. I note the managers in previous reviews commented it was typical for islands, but having visited a few, that's not really the case.
