Awi Guest House

The most amazing location on Elephantine Island. Picked up by Mr Awi in his motor boat. The room sits on the Nile, delicious home cooked breakfast by Mrs Awi, with spectacular views from the room and the patio. Spotlessly clean, very large room with kitchen. We didn't cook as there are marvelous restaurants in walking distance. We walked around the island and slso did a motor boat tour with Mr Awi, would recommend. Thankyou

We really enjoyed staying on Elephantine Island. Awi, the host, has his own boat to take you to mainland Aswan when you need. This was especially useful when we first arrived and when we left. The ferry is also available for most of the day. I really recommend staying here, since it feels different from Aswan, more relaxing I would say. We booked Abu Simbel and the Nubian village with Awi. He provided a driver for Abu Simbel and his son took us to the Nubian village and Kitchener’s Island. This was great value for money, since it was cheaper than Get Your Guide (for example). Breakfast was good too.

A Wonderful Nubian Stay with Genuine Hospitality Our stay at Awi Guest House was one of the most memorable parts of our time in Aswan. What really makes this place special is not just the location or the room, but the genuine warmth and personal hospitality from Mr Awi himself. From the moment we arrived at the KFC pier, we immediately felt that we were in good hands. Mr Awi personally came on his own boat to pick us up and take us directly across the Nile to the guest house. After travelling through the busier parts of Egypt, arriving by boat on Elephantine Island felt like entering a completely different world — peaceful, relaxed and wonderfully local. It was a small gesture, but it made a big impression and set the tone for our entire stay. The room was also excellent value for money. We were particularly pleased to have a view of the Nile right from our room. Being able to look out and see the river, boats and surrounding scenery without even having to leave the room was something we really appreciated. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and importantly for us after a long day of sightseeing, the air-conditioning was properly cold and worked well. Everything was straightforward, comfortable and exactly what we needed. What I enjoyed most, however, was the atmosphere of Elephantine Island. It feels much more peaceful and authentic than staying in the busier parts of Aswan. There is a slower pace of life here, and staying at Awi Guest House gives you the opportunity to experience that rather than simply passing through Aswan as a tourist. The location is also convenient for food. King Jamaica Restaurant is nearby and became one of the places we enjoyed during our stay. It has a great Nile-side setting, a lively and relaxed vibe, good food and, importantly, genuinely friendly staff. Sitting there with the river around us was a very enjoyable part of our Aswan experience.

Pretty location, comfy bed, nice size room, nice views.

No stove top, no minibar, no bath, no restaurant, no boat sent and waited for an hour before being told to get on the local ferry which meant dragging our cases through unpaved streets. Only 1 tiny mirror high up in bathroom. Towels were small hand towels.
