Zolferate is a romantic holiday home in a restored 300-year-old stone barn, the most private of three one-bedroom holiday cottages at Podere Sant'Angelo, a small, family-run property set 700 metres high in the hills near Roccalbegna in the Maremma, southern Tuscany. Ideal for couples or small families seeking complete peace, privacy and nature, close to Saturnia and the Etruscan hill towns.
Zolferate is 50 m² in total, with a double bedroom, a fold-out armchair and a sofa bed in the living area, perfect for couples or a small family. The interior combines high ceilings, chestnut beams, terracotta floors and an open fireplace with a well-equipped kitchen, creating a warm and characterful Tuscan atmosphere.
Zolferate is the most private of the three cottages at Podere Sant'Angelo, with its own secluded garden, a shaded pergola with a dining table and sun loungers, and a quiet position in the hills of the Maremma. A lovely spot for long outdoor lunches, reading in the shade or simply enjoying the surrounding countryside. From the first minute we were feeling so comfortable as graham was welcoming us in a very friendly way and the property is stunning. Such a beautiful landscape and the apartment had everything you needed and more. Very comfortbable chairs,the best bed we had so far in italy from all our trips and a breathtaking view. We would stay there definitely again and also the 2 kilometer road which is not the best iscalso worth it. Thanks for having us graham

Very loverly place to stay. A few km down a gravel road but that adds to the experience. Graham is a gracious host. He provided lots of info places to visit and shopping.

The Podere Sant’Angelo farmhouse is in a beautiful spot in the remote, mountainous Maremma region of Tuscany. Its old barn has been charmingly converted into two apartments, each with its own terrace area.
It was a great base for pottering around local mountain villages, all with long histories, and for walking and wildlife. We saw porcupines, martens, hares, wild boar, deer, and lots of interesting arthropods.
We also went on some great excursions to the gentler Tuscan landscapes and wine and art towns of the Val d’Orcia, to Etruscan villages and necropoli on the Lazio borders, and to unspoilt beaches on the Maremma coast.
Getting anywhere involved a long drive on narrow, winding roads - but this area is way off Tuscany’s beaten track and well worth the drive.
The owner has lots of good restaurant recommendations!

Beautiful remote location. Airy, high ceilinged rooms, immaculately looked after. Very special garden clearly lovingly tended. Wonderful walking, especially to Rochette di Fazio and the truly excellent Trattoria Cacciaconti. Graham very friendly and helpful. A real retreat for people who want to get away from it all and enjoy La Maremma countryside.
