Great house for the week! My son declared it his favorite of all the houses we’ve rented in Cape Charles!

Highly recommend booking this home for your Cape Charles visit. This is a charming historic home with lots of character. Only a short walking distance to the beach (even faster with a golf cart!), it has everything we needed for our week stay. We enjoyed particularly enjoyed the wide front porch, the outdoor shower, the provided beach chairs/umbrellas, and the large living room. The owner was extremely responsive to all my questions leading up to the trip and while we were there. This home is truly a gem.

The property was not in the condition that I expected. There is quite a bit of deferred maintenance. This caused the a/c to quit working (we had to install window units in 2 bedrooms and the others just remained hot until repairs were made and the central unit could catch up), the front door was unable to be locked, there were holes (I assume) in 2 ceilings that were covered with plastic and storm door panels. The overhead light in the bedroom didn’t work. The house needs a lot of maintenance, repairs and painting. It was clean so we did not feel like we couldn’t stay, but overall I expected it to be in better condition based on reviews, photos and price. I rent vacation rentals quite often (5 in the last 10 months) and have never felt I needed to leave any negative reviews or been so surprised by the condition of a house I have rented.
