Domus Antiqua is a historic dwelling, dating back to the sixteenth century, built on an ancient stone arch that was supposed to be a gateway to the town. Located in the center of Montalcino, in an exceptional position, it benefits from a 180-degree panoramic view of the Val d'Orcia from the terrace.
The house offers a refined and exclusive environment where furnishings and fabrics have been expertly designed to blend harmoniously with the historical-cultural context and pastel colors of the land of Siena.
Domus Antiqua offers its guests on the first floor a room with a fireplace, exposed beams, and three sofas; on the ground floor, a library room ennobled by the presence of XIV century stone arch with two armchairs and overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy monastic tranquility and dedicate themselves to the consultation of hundreds of volumes of art history and archeology.
On the first floor, the "Sinfonia in Blu" Suite has an area of 30 square meters. It consists of a bedroom with a double bed overlooking the countryside, a TV room with armchairs a kettle. a coffee machine type Nespresso and table and a marble bathroom with shower.
On the second floor, the Suite "Notes of landscape" meets the landscape of the Val d'Orcia: the apartment benefits from a 30 sqm terrace with a unique and suggestive view of the Tuscan countryside at 180 degrees: with an area of 80 sqm, it is divided into several rooms that include a beautifully furnished double bedroom overlooking the terrace, a relaxation room with panoramic views, a study with desk, a marble bathroom with shower and another double bedroom.
The relaxation room is equipped with a TV; the studio is equipped with wifi, a wardrobe, a kettle, a coffee machine-type Nespresso, a small fridge, and antique furniture.

My family of four had a fabulous five night stay and could not have been happier with our experience. It has plenty of space, tremendous historic character, and outstanding views! Vittorio, owner, and Fulvia, manager, were extremely helpful and informative. The location is perfect in that everything in town is within walking distance and you still have plenty of privacy. Needless to say, we hope to stay again!

Great views, very clean and accommodating hosts. Hosts were quick to answer any questions and help find solutions and suggestions. 10/10.

We were met by Fulvia and she explained everything about the house. She was also available to us anytime we had questions. The beds were comfortable and the showers worked well. The house was in a good location to restaurants and shops. I enjoyed listening to the school children during our lunch time or watching them walk to school.
We had 2 couples and the house had plenty of space. The outdoor deck was wonderful to have and watch the sunset and sip our wine. We had breakfast most mornings at the house and then would venture out in our car rental to explore other hilltop towns. We would then come back to have dinner at one of many restaurants or just snacks on the deck overlooking the town.
I do have a suggestion, it would have been nice to have tissues and paper towels for our use. Everything else was great.

Excellent host, clean home, beautifully appointed, and located in the heart of Montalcino. Walkable to grocery store and many restaurants.
