Château d'Argouges, Bayeux, Best D-Day Vacation Home with Heated Swimming Pool

Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at Chateau d'Argouges! The chateau is beautiful and well cared for. The landscaped grounds are great as well. Be mindful of an additional check-out fee for housekeeping and additional taxes that are not included in the VRBO costs. Overall, we loved our stay here.

Great Property and a Beautiful Place to have a Family gathering. We had a wonderful dinner cooked at the Chateau by a wonderful French Chef.

12 adults shared a wonderful 8 bedroom Chateau in the Normandy region. The historic property is well modernized with most baths en-suite. Great country kitchen, large refrigerator, and all located within 30 minutes of most of the key D-Day sites. No complaints, would rent again.

We had a big family group and the house was large enough for all. Hire the chef, François! What a wonderful weekend- we went to Mont St. Michel, Normandy beaches and to Bayeux.

We retraced our father’s D-day landing. Staying at the chateau made for a wonderful gathering place for our family of nine. Beautiful house, comfortable beds, very clean. Wonderful experience.

This chateau is located in a beautiful setting, calm and peaceful. It is perfect for a large family, with many bedrooms & en-suite bathrooms. We also enjoyed the swimming pool, game room and garden-with a trampoline & swing set.

The chateau is fabulous, comfortable and just beautiful inside, I’d describe it as welcoming and peaceful. Grounds are lovely, lots of space to relax, play, BBQ and enjoy time with friends and family. The pool are was lovely and the pool perfect , including a pool bar and BBQ fir you to set up and use. Thibault is on-site if you need anything , the area is lovely for cycling and you are close to all the history & lovely Normandy villages. Highly recommend arranging Francois the chef to come in one night for a special meal - was all a lovely, memorable experience. We had a super 5 days , and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Highly recommended.

Fantastic property that is charming but has excellent facilities. Well maintained and is as nice or nicer than the photos on line.

We choose this property to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday, and the whole experience was just wonderful. The Chateau is as beautiful as it looks, each room has its own en-suite so plenty of room and privacy for everyone. The pool area was wonderful and we were so lucky that we had the weather to enjoy it. We travelled as 4 groups, our own group consisting of 2 children, age 6 years and 10 months. There was a high chair, travel cot with good mattress and even baby change mats available. Also the trampoline was a hit with my 6 year old. We didn’t find the toys in the cupboard in the playroom until the last day, so that’s a tip to have a look in the cupboard. My only regret is not having longer at the property. We would definitely book to stay here again.

Perfect place when visiting with several families. Each room has a separate bath. Kitchen, dining room, garden and pool area worked perfect as a place for gathering

Just back from a fantastic week. Property was exactly as described and offered everything we needed for 4 families. Plenty of space for everyone.

I can’t say enough about Thibault and his chateau. Our group of 13 had a wonderful stay! The chateau was clean and spacious. Our kids & teenagers enjoyed the pool, trampoline, snooker table, and game room. A highlight was hiring Francois, at Thibault’s recommendation, to cook for us one night. An amazing experience! It was also a treat to have both a washer and dryer to use. The property is very conveniently located for all D Day museums, sites, and activities. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Normandy!

Our group of 3 families (14 people) had a wonderful time in Normandy at Chateau d’Argouges. Great location for Omaha beach and DDay tours and Bayeux. Kids had a blast on the trampoline and pool while the adults enjoyed wine in the evenings.

We had a great stay in this historic chateau, which we used as a base to explore Normandy. We had a mix of adults and teenagers in our 12 person group, and the chateau had plenty of room to cook, eat, and rest from our activities. Lovely classic house and the gardens and landscaping were classic Normandy. Thibault was always very responsive to our questions. We would stay here again.

We had a fabulous time in the clean, charming chateau. The pool was warm, the kitchen well organized and the chateau had many lovely details.

The group consisted of extended family with young and old included. The facilities at the chateau were excellent with a lot of things thoughtfully put in place to cater for everyone of all ages in all eventualities. This is by no means just an old chateau being rented out - this is an beautiful old building, very well maintained by someone who obviously cares about the experience their guests have. Huge attention to detail has being paid to the property. Can’t recommend this Chateau highly enough, 10/10.

Our three generations had a fabulous week in this fairy tale location. We were smitten by the house, the gardens, and the surrounding area. There were plenty of rooms to find private space, as well as other gathering spaces to enjoy together. Our hosts, Thibault and Sophie, were friendly and quick to answer any questions. The grandchildren were delighted with the play areas and equipment and the large heated swimming pool. The home is in an ideal location for exploration and short day trips. We went to Mont Saint-Michel, Honfleur, Port En Bessin, Saint Mere Eglise, Bayeux, the American Cemetery and Museum, Omaha Beach, and Point du Hoc. We have rented homes in many countries, and this castle is at the top of our list. It was hard to leave, and we would be happy to spend more time here in the future. Highest recommendations!

I organised a special reunion for Middlesex Nurses - it was 50 years since we started our training and I chose Chateau d'Argourges as it appeared to have everything we needed. The Chateau turned out to be an absolute gem - very comfortable living space and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, gym swimming pool etc. Everyone loved it! There was so much to do in the area - Normandy beaches, Chateaus, gardens, museums, markets - we were never at a loss for something to do. The Beaches were more informative and emotional than we could have imagined. South of Bayeux, Jardin du Castillion was another gem and well worth a visit - created by a couple now well into their 80's and still gardening.I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this beautiful Chateau.

Я провела потрясающую неделю в старинном французском шато в 20 минутах езды на машине от побережья Ла-Манша. Хозяева - Тибо и Софи - невероятно гостеприимные и доброжелательные люди! В шато есть абсолютно всё, что нужно для жизни, как дома - просторная кухня-столовая с посудомоечной машиной, светлые комната и ванная с огромными окнами, вайфай, стиральная и сушильная машины. По утрам слышно только пение птиц, а вид из окон только на зеленые деревья и цветы. Атмосфера в шато настолько уютная, что иногда даже не хотелось покидать его! Я была приятно удивлена возможностью плавать в конце сентября в бассейне с подогревом, особенно, когда в России в это время температура была около 12 градусов. В 15 минутах есть очень большой супермаркет, и мне повезло, что рядом с ним с 27 сентября открылся винный рынок, где представлено вино из разных регионов Франции.) В 10 минутах езды расположен рынок со свежей рыбой и морепродуктами. Также в городе Bayeux есть рынок, который работает по выходным. В этом же прекрасном средневековом городе есть множество магазинов и сувенирных лавок. Отдельное место в истории этого региона занимает Омаха Бич, которое стало одним из переломных моментов во Второй Мировой Войне. Если вас не интересует история, то можно просто провести время на одном из самых прекрасных пляжей Ла-Манша

We had a brilliant week at this amazing Chateau. It really is wonderful and so spacious. We were a party of 11 adults and several children and there was something for everyone around the house and it's grounds. We tended to do our own thing during the day and then congregate around the lovely heated pool of an evening. This was followed up by lovely home cooked food and some very nice French wine. We did venture out into Bayeaux a couple of evenings and had some good food. There were several supermarkets close by and something to do for everyone. The Chateau has such lovely charm and character and a great feel about it. I really can't wait to go back again. I have some very lovely memories and would definitely recommend a stay. Many thanks for sharing your lovely property.

This superb castle has everything one requires for a perfect week. It is ideal situated, close to all the interesting places to visit yet far away from noisy traffic. In the morning you might hear just the birds . The rooms are very spacy, elegant styled and provide a kind of Comfort you seldom find even in First Class Hotels. The kitchen is spacious, well equipped and offers a table for easily eight persons. So , although there is a beautiful dining room, expect to spent more relaxing time in the Kitchen than elsewhere. Sophie and Thibault are most welcoming Hosts. If You need help, You will get. The garden is just beautiful and well kept. We enjoyed this Chateau in May and in good weather, but this location is certainly a wonderful experience in every season.

We spent Christmas in Normandy and were fortunate to find this home as the perfect place for our family to reunite.My mother stumbled across the property on-line; the booking process and communication with the homeowner was very simple. We all arrived from our separate homes in the early evening to a beautifully lit and wonderfully warm Chateau. (My parents, grandmother (aged 92) sister, niece and nephew arrived from Kent, UK. My brother and family arrived from the Middle East, (via Paris) and I traveled from the US with my husband and children (via Paris). Thibault Jeanne was there to greet us and show us the ropes. The home is large with plenty of space for everyone. Each bedroom has either a connecting bathroom or it's own bathroom/shower facilities. The website does not do justice to how warm and cosy the bedrooms are. It is laid out over three/ four storeys so you will get your exercise. I think I counted 56 steps from the laundry room on the lower level to the bedrooms on the third floor (and there is another bedroom tucked in the attic). The 'back' staircase did scare me a little as we had three young children; the steps are steep and a little slippery so to be honest we never let the youngest child (20 months) out of arms reach on that staircase. The kitchen is large and well laid out with two dishwashers. Practically everything you need is there at the home. I think we had to purchase a potato masher :). We spent LOTS of time in the kitchen, preparing meals and drinking wonderful French wine. On the main level of the house is a dining room that accommodated our family well on Christmas day (8 adults and 6 children), this leads to a wonderful drawing/living room that overlooks the swimming pool, has a natural wood burning fire place and really comfortable furniture, and this in turn leads to a TV room. Never at any point did the house feel crowded with 14 people. The grounds of the home are wonderful too; although with it being December we did not use them as much as we would in the summer time. The pool area looks awesome. I like the fact it was close to the home but was also in a separate part of the garden - great for peace of mind if you have young children. (There appeared to be a pool alarm too). There is also a playroom across the courtyard from the main house. The local area was beautiful. We did not choose this location to focus on D-Day/WWII but seeing as there are lots of historic sites close by, we did spend some time viewing them

Château très bien situé à 10 min des plages, bien équipé. Adapté aux familles avec enfants. La piscine chauffée est un plus.

Expérience hors du temps dans un très beau château très bien entretenu. Je recommande à 100% !!
