About this house rental
The “Old Vourvoulos Houses” is a small complex of two independent, self catering houses of unique character, in the old traditional settlement of Vourvoulos village. It is situated on the center east slopes of Santorini, with a magnificent view to the deep blue of the Aegean Sea and to the nearby islands.
The “Old Vourvoulos Houses” consists of two individual houses – a two bedroom apartment (the "L" House) and a Loft Apartment (the "S" House).
They are based on a small cluster of old traditional cave houses, built in the end of the 17th century, which have been completely restored, and are currently being renovated and beautifully furnished, incorporating all the necessary facilities ( air conditioning, free Wi –Fi, multilingual cable TV, surround audio system, etc). As self-catering houses, their kitchens are fully equipped with oven, fridge, coffee machines and other kitchenware, crockery, glassware, etc.
The “L” house, which is partially a cave house, can accommodate up to 6 people. It has two double bedrooms –one master with its own bathroom - as well as a sofa, in the spacious entrance hall, which can be transformed in to two single beds. In the fully equipped kitchen, there is also a separate dining room, while its living room with a fireplace and windows that face the sea, make the house ideal even for the wintertime.
The “S” house is 45 sqm open space Loft Apartment, that can accommodate up to 4 people. It has a loft bedroom with wonderful views of the garden and the sea, a living room with two single beds, plus space for a baby cot, a fully equipped kitchen that face the sea, and a shower bathroom. Its private patio is beautifully furnished with rattan. A portable barbecue is also available to our guests. The Apartment was just renovated and it is fully equipped with all necessary facilities and amenities!

We loved the relaxed vibe of the location. We were near restaurants that were family run. They were welcoming and friendly.

We were there to attend a wedding. We rented both houses, which worked out perfectly, since our teenage boys were able to have the smaller house to themselves. I would definitely not recommend this place for small children or the elderly - especially the smaller house with the loft. But for anyone else, I highly recommend it!
Before our arrival, we had some communication issues with the manager - very slow response time. From what I gathered, there was a change in management, so hopefully that issue is resolved. Once we arrived, the host was easy to communicate with, and even had some good information about the area, including a recommended driver. Very useful in this location, which is a long walk uphill to the main Santorini (tourist) areas.
This area is mostly locals who permanently live there. These people are very nice and friendly. Some speak English; many don’t. There’s a mini mart down the road that’s easy to walk to, and they carry most of your basic needs. Roza’s restaurant, just before the mini mart, seems to be the place to go. We’re on a special diet, so we didn’t eat there, but it was always busy and again, the people there were friendly when we walked by.
The homes were furnished and stocked as advertised. My only negative is that there is no washing machine, but there is a laundrymat somewhere nearby. I knew this ahead of time and planned accordingly. Also, a big plus is the DAILY housekeeping. We loved that unexpected service!

An impressive accommodation for a Greek island experience .Located between the two main towns ,you do need transport.
The local restaurant and supermarket are sufficient for daily needs

Our stay in Vourvoulos was wonderful. Santorini is a very busy island. The Vousvoulos area is a small village close to Thira with two great restaurants, two mini markets and easy access to all the very busy places you want see. The accommodations are beautiful with gorgeous views of the sea and nearby country side. A great choice if you like a quiet nights sleep!
I highly recommend this place.
