About this house rental

This typical country house for 4 people is located on the heights of a picturesque troglodyte village in the Cher valley, between Touraine vineyards and the river. Surrounded by a unique set of tufa cellars, adorned with a small garden facing south, it was recently renovated in an artistic spirit.

It is ideally placed to discover the Renaissance castles of the Loire - Chenonceau, Amboise, Chaumont are around 15 km away - and the vineyards of Touraine, Montlouis and Vouvray. The Beauval zoo (the first zoo in France, and known for its pandas) is also very close.
The banks of the Cher offer many opportunities for walks for pedestrians and cyclists.
Description of the house:
On the ground floor :
- a furnished living room with a convertible sofa and armchairs around a wood stove. A dining area is located next to the open plan kitchen, which is equipped with a fridge, an electric oven and ceramic hobs, a dishwasher and a washing machine.

On the first floor, accessible from the ground floor or from outside:
- A bedroom with a double bed (180 * 190), storage, velux window
- A bedroom with two single beds (90 * 190) and a wardrobe.
- A shower room with WC

Other equipment: Vacuum cleaner, travel iron and ironing board, hairdryer.

A sunny garden with table and garden chair, barbecue. A set of tuffeau cellars.
Parking 30 meters away.

No television or WiFi but good network. The house is ideal for people wishing to cut with the hectic pace of cities, but UNSUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OF AGE AND PEOPLE WITH LOW MOBILITY (babies welcome!).

Maid service available during the stay on request.
Pets accepted on request.

We were welcomed by Pierre who was an excellent host throughout our stay. The cottage was just as we expected old rustic and very French just as we like. The bed was very comfortable and within a short walk to the Bakery. Two miles drive to nearest town with of good places to eat. We had a great stay and would recommend the location for Cher and Loire region.

In 1969 I was in France with my father for the 25th anniversary of DDay. After visiting friends and all his old war sites, we spent a week touring the Chateaux of the Loire. It was an amazing experience then and I’ve been waiting 56 years to return. We originally chose Pierre’s cottage for its location and it did not disappoint…in fact it was perfect! We were able to visit 10 chateaux in the week we were there! What a lovely wee cottage and Pierre Joseph Jean Marie was the penultimate host always helpful with advice and recommendations and a full basket of wood for the fire at night. And weren’t those limestone caves at the back of his property amazing? An area so rich with history and beauty. What a great adventure…Merci for your part in it, Pierre…I’m already planning Le retour!!

If you want to stay somewhere slightly out of the ordinary, this is the place for you. The house and grounds were both delightful and intriguing. Our host Pierre was absolutely charming. He greeted us when we arrived and showed us round the property. He was very helpful without being intrusive.

Great house, cosy, clean, well-equipped. Comfortable, calm surroundings, nice garden with shady corners. Well situated, near the river Cher. Great hospitality, nice wines! Lots of (cultural) things to visit (zoo, castles). Close to cities. Bakery, restaurant and pharmacy nearby. We'd like to return in the future. We would recommend this house to culture-seekers .

My family completely enjoyed our stay in this Bourre house. The accommodations were exactly as described and were very comfortable for our family of 4. We were greeted by friends of the owner upon our arrival and were toured through the nicely maintained house and yard which also has interesting small caves as is common in this area of France. The town had a good bakery and small grocery within walking distance of the home which provided our French breakfast needs daily. A great restaurant (Les 2 Caves) is just down the street from the house and served great French cuisine at good prices and you get to eat in a very nice cave! Exploring the area from the house by car was easy as Montrichard was just a few minutes away and the Amboise Castle and Chenenceau Caslte were about 20 minutes away on beautiful back roads. I recommend this home for a great vacation.
