House Mario

Ein perfekter und wunderschöner Urlaub. Die Gastgeber sind toll und das Haus ist spitzenklasse. Mitten im Olivenhain, mit Pool und einer Aussicht, die ihres gleichen sucht. Das Grundstück ist eingezäunt, was für Hundebesitzer sehr vom Vorteil ist. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

The exterior is lovely!!! View of Split (especially at night) and ferries going there and back and sailing boats with the mountains at the mainland from Split to Omiś - this is something that rises the value of this place high. You cannot be bored. Darts, table tennis and football, petanque will fill your leisure time if you are adult with a soul of the child. The host Josip is invisible, but comes from the nearby Supetar immediatelly if you have yoursmall problems to solve. Many amenities like olive oil or coffee ar free. Supetar is in 2.6km so you may walk for evening wandering at riva.

We hired Villa Mario on a self-catering basis. The property is a true "Eco Villa": UV panels + a large battery for electric power + part-time generator; bottled gas for cooking; septic tank drainage. The property is located amongst the family-owned olive orchard; beautiful landscape and sea views. Very helpful and obliging family members look after the property. Suits families (with children from around 3 upwards) and people wanting to get away into the country and able/willing to BBQ daily; drive up the country lanes (see below); and look after themselves. We had a great time.

The local Agents that hired-out the property are fairly useless. My iPhone failed during our journey from the UK, so I had no means to contact the agents. Before we left UK, the Agents should have told us to look for a "Villa Mario" contact on the quayside as we arrived by ferry into Supetar. In spite of this, we found the property ourselves: we were (a) the first Brits to visit Villa Mario and (b) the first people to find the property ourselves with no local guidance. We had arranged to pay 50% of the hire charge in cash on arrival. The Agents took the remaining 50% from my credit card + extra costs without my permission: not good practice and annoying, as we had the necessary currency available. For Villa Mario: a car or other personal transport is essential - the property is1km+ up a steep concrete track. Some knowledge of the Supetar area on Brac Island is recommended (e.: where to find Lidl !) + a little knowledge of the croatian language (although most locals can speak some english) will also help you. There is no microwave and no kitchen oven for cooking (would overload the electric system). This means that hob top cooking + BBQ food is essential. OK for us - we enjoy that, and eating/living outside in Croatia is brilliant !

The host was incredibly helpful and flexible. The property had everything we needed, very nice place for barbecue, perfect view for the bay and a private pool. Villa is located around olive trees, fig trees and grapevine that we could eat all day. We got also a free dinner in owners restaurant that we didn't even expected and olive oil made by the owner from his local olives. We will remember this vacation for a very long time.
