"We absolutely loved our stay in this great home. It was very spacious and well laid out for our 2 families (2 moms with 4 kids traveling without our hubbies) and was immaculately clean. The kids loved..."

About this house rental

Summary:
This delightful and fully-equipped 2-story home is in a classic Palo Alto neighborhood, close to downtown, Stanford, Sand Hill Road, numerous tech companies, and to major thoroughfares. There are four bedrooms (three with a desk), two bathrooms, a living area, a dining area, and a spacious kitchen.

We have hosted many families as well as work groups, and they all have enjoyed themselves! Come find out for yourself.

The Space:
This classic, recently remodeled home in a classic tree-lined Palo Alto neighborhood sleeps 10 and has four bedrooms -- three on the ground floor, and one on the second floor.

The front door opens into the nicely furnished living area. To the right is the first bedroom and the hallway which leads to a bathroom and the second and third bedrooms. Beyond the living area is a dining area with a large table perfect for large family meals. The well-appointed kitchen, complete with all the kitchen supplies and appliances you'll need, is next, and it includes a dining nook. The spacious upstairs area has the fourth bedroom along another bathroom.

Outside the kitchen is the back yard where you'll find a garage that's been converted to a little cottage. This cottage is not part of this listing, and it may be occupied by other guests or the owner.

The laundry area is in the back of the cottage / converted garage in the back yard.

The sleeping arrangements of the home are as follows:
- The first bedroom sleeps four: two on the king-sized bed, and two on the twin-sized bunk beds -- ie. one person on the lower bunk, and the other on the upper bunk.
- The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, which sleeps two.
- The third bedroom has a double bed, which sleeps one.
- The upstairs loft has a king-sized bed for two, plus a fold-out couch for one.

Guest Access:
The house is yours to enjoy -- make yourself at home!

The Neighborhood:
This home is in the "Community Center" neighborhood, named for the nearby Lucy Stern Community Center. It's near the delightful Rinconada Park, one of many that Palo Alto has to offer.

Downtown Palo Alto's University Ave, with its amazing restaurants and boutique shops, is a mere 8 blocks away, an easy walk or bike ride.

If you love the great outdoors, there are incredible hikes within 20 minutes driving, and the Santa Cruz mountains, with California's famous and magnificent Redwood trees, are only 30 minutes away.

Getting Around:
Nearby Middlefield Road is an easy thoroughfare, Alma/Central Expressway is close as well, and El Camino Real is just a bit further. Getting to the 101 is easy on Embarcadero Road. Depending on traffic, 101 North will get you to SFO in 20-45 minutes, and San Francisco itself in 45 to 75 minutes. In the other direction, 30-45 minutes, is San Jose Airport.

Note that though this is Silicon Valley, an area known for green innovation, and the home of Tesla and self-driving cars and many solar companies, it was built in the 1950's era for cars, not for public transit. You definitely need a car to get around. That said, there's a Caltrain station at the other end of University Ave, from which a "baby bullet" train can get you to San Francisco in 30 minutes.

Other Things to Note:
We ask guests to park on the street, as close to the home as possible.

Behind this home is an unattached ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit), often referred to as an "Inlaw Unit", which sometimes has guests as well. Since most guests are business travelers who only use the place to sleep, you won't have much contact with them. They do not have access to the main home, and you do not have access to the ADU. The only parts of the property you share are the backyard relaxation area and the driveway -- which neither of you will be using since guests park on the street.

That said, if it's important to you that you are the only guest on the entire property, this might not be the right place for you. Let us know if it's a concern and we can tell you if your dates may overlap with an ADU guest. Also let us know if you would like to rent the ADU for some of your crew; we may be able to offer it at a heavily discounted price of $100 per night.

Interaction with Guests:
The property manager lives just 10 minutes away in case there are any issues.
