About this villa rental
17th Century farmhouse set in 25 acres of gardens, with superb views over the Douro River, reached by a lovely winding track through the grounds. Take a virtual tour by copying the link: meutour360.com/tour-360/qlal The property, with its orange, lemon and olive groves, has been in our family for several generations and the many prints, sketches and photographs lining the walls tell their own history of the Port Wine region of Portugal. The property is 70km from the coast and Porto (home of the Port Wine cellars and with its town center designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
The property is an hour drive from Porto City and close to Port Wine Estates. It is served by the Douro Train Line. There are lovely restaurants and well-stocked supermarkets close by. This is the perfect place for nature lovers, writers, historians, wine lovers and everybody that needs a break from hectic city life
Getting Around in the Local Area :
Quinta do Loureiro is situated in a stunning location in the Douro valley.
Because of its fairly remote location – although it is only about an hour’s drive to Porto – we have always advised guests to hire a car. Recently however, we have realized that some people might like the option to use taxis, or a combination of public transport and taxis. After all, the main railway line from Porto stops at a station just a five minute taxi ride away! So, we have put together a selection of possible taxi rides and excursions. .We can provide many other ideas for trips out by train or taxi in the local area . Please ask!
Examples of individual taxi trips prices:
To and from Porto airport: 170 Euros each way.
Local supermarket trip for shopping: 60 Euros
Visit to a local winery , a day tour : 170 Euros
Other one-day leisure tour : 170 Euros.
Taxi return trip to local train station , Mosteirô , or transport to and from the Porto Antigo Hotel or a local restaurant: 60 Euros.
Our weekly taxi package / payment in advance :
We offer for up to eight guests, with no car hire, a package for week’s taxi hire to cover average main needs for 750 Euros. One of the great benefits of this is that there is no need to worry about how to get to the house, negotiate unfamiliar roads , to enjoy the scenic views and have a relaxed meals .
For example:
Transfer from and to the Porto / airport .
Three trips to a local supermarket / Intermarché / Cinfais .
A one day winery tour , 09:30 am up to 06:00 pm
3 trips to local restaurants close the house .
Go and return from our local train station Mosteiro .
Individual trips would be at the prices stated above, similarly for guests staying for less than a week.
The check-in time is flexible. When you arrive, Francisco the owner will be waiting for you to give you the keys and give you details that you need to know about the house , restaurants and places to visit as any request from guests .
Check out time can be flexible .
Quinta do Loureiro is open all year round .
Local temperature by winter time is mild and the house provides all the comfort by a large fire place and units of air cond.
For guests with a week MIN.stay arriving After Day Light , we Offer free a taxi " FOLLOW ME" to drive before you from the airport to facilitate your navigation to the house .
So you do not have to worry how to negotiate unfamiliar roads and directions to get to the house .

Wonderful place to stay. Francisco & Teresa are magnificent hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Fresh vegetables & fruit were delicious. Assisted us with transportation, Phillip was excellent. The view from our rooms, the pool and from the outside table was spectacular.

Our family were overwhelmed by the beauty of this home and view of the Douro River Valley right outside the bedrooms and dining room windows.
Francisco and Teresa are wonderful in every way.
What a glorious spot to have experienced together.

We spent the entire month of August at this beautiful property. The house is lovely unique and has all the necessary conveniences, views of the Duoro incredible, the hosts are really helpful. The place is pretty remote and the road in is a little treacherous, so don't plan to go out at night, but staying home is delightful in this beautiful home.

We travelled to Portugal from Australia for a short, 2 week holiday. We had 5 nights in the Douro Valley at Quinto Do Loureiro. Our holiday was over the New Year period. We found the winter weather in Portugal mild rather cold.Gathering from the QDL guest books, most folks staying there did so when the weather was warmer and the days longer. For us, though, QDL provided a fine base for our touring (even venturing to Spain one day) and after a day's driving it offered us the warmth of a bright fire with a good stack of dry wood, where eating the fine food prepared by one of our group and drinking big local reds was the order of our evenings. The highlight of our entire trip to Portugal was lunch at the DOC restaurant of chef Rui Paula sitting alongside the Douro River at nearby Regua. Fabulous.QDL had everything that we needed. Its old age brought a charm and grace but this was coupled with all the mod cons. It was very clean and tidy. QDL fitted in well with our holiday plans that included nights in Lisbon and Porto.I must say that the owner Francisco Neto was very pleasant to deal with - he is a hassle free person.
