About this apartment rental

'Stunning location...quiet but close enough to everywhere else as/when you needed it...spotlessly clean and well-equipped - and the most wonderful of views'. These are comments from a renter who enjoyed his stay in our flat which is within walking distance of the ski-lifts and the best nursery and intermediate slopes in Chamonix.

Argentière which has some of the best piste and off-piste skiing in the world is 5 minutes down the road, although many find the Le Tour slopes all they need for a week. Argentière also has a number of good restaurants and shops. The whole area is teeming with activities, both in summer and winter; a walker's paradise, ideal for family holidays and for those who just want to relax in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

May and June are great months to visit when the mountain flowers are appearing. Le Tour is also very well placed for visiting Switzerland (10 mins), Italy (30 mins), and Annecy and Geneva (1 hour). Lock-up garage and plenty of outside parking.

Le Tour has more sunshine than any other part of the valley. Summer activities in Chamonix include summer-tobogganing, canyoning, white-water rafting, ice-climbing, mountain biking, and adventure trails up in the trees; and sometimes you can't see the sky for the parachutists. Take the train to visit the inside of the glacier, or from Le Fayet to the nearest you can be transported to the summit of Mont Blanc. Chamonix is the European centre for mountaineering and has a very good climbing school. In the winter the skiing is famed world wide and the area has over 600 kms of pistes and 200 lifts. Argentière has some of the best off-piste skiing in Europe. Le Tour has excellent nursery slopes and good intermediate skiing for the whole family.

We loved Le Tour: away from the hustle and bustle; quaint little village with little modern development and everything kept in keeping with the old style. Not having a grocery shop to hand was a small price to pay for enjoying the peace and quiet once all the skiers caught the bus home. And no having to queue and cram into buses for us: the slopes were right on our doorstep!As for the chalet, it was warm and cosy. I wouldn't call it polished and it is dated - although the owners have clearly updated bits of it here and there - but it was very good value and perfect for us.Would highly recommend!

We didn't lack anything. The apartment is exactly as described and pretty much perfect for a family or two/three couples and the location just couldn't be better. Walking distance to Charamilion, very close to shops in Argentiere and Grand Montets, safe, quiet and away from hustle and bustle of the centre of Chamonix. Laura is a wonderful and very helpful host. We hope to keep on returning on regular basis!

We enjoyed our stay. The property is relatively well maintained, the main bathroom needs some renovation and removal of mold. We were surprised by the fact that we had to pay for renting bed linen and bath towels. These are usually provided with the accommodation. The bedrooms are on the small side, so this property is ideal for one couple, or for a family with young children.

Cosy 3 bedroom apartment, nice south facing balcony for lunch time breaks from the slopes and a lovely fireplace for evening ambiance. Spacious garage gives storage for skis. You can ski-in from Le Tour slopes, but need to walk back up to the lift (5 min). Free Chamonix buses take you to more challenging slopes in Argentiere or in Chamonix every 10 minutes.

We recently had a very comfortable stay in this apartment. John Hart, the owner, is very genuine and lovely. Aude, who looks after your stay in France was also very lovely and helpful. The log burner is a real treat after a day in the snow; although I recommend only one log at a time as I have never seen such an efficient burner. Beds are really comfortable. The kitchen and apartment are very well equipped – although I could never work out how to use the microwave – either as a microwave or an oven. The instructions are all in French which to my shame left me stumped – so oven hob was the way for me!The internet speed is very good also. The apartment, as John points out in his pre stay e-mails, is also their family home, and certainly we felt the benefit of being in a home, and not just a rental apartment, with comfortable and cosy chairs to snug into when watching an evening DVD with the fire. The use of the garage is a bonus. Especially not having to clear snow off the car.Only word of caution – if you are over 5’8, watch out for the casing above the top of the stairs. I would certainly love to stay again. I also suspect that summer must be wonderful, with the balcony looking towards Mont Blanc and the garden. Even in February – on a sunny day – the balcony was wonderful to sit on.

We really liked John's place in Le Tour. It's a wee bit far from the centre of chamonx, but we knew that going in, and between our having a hire car and the multitude of public transport options available it was no problem at all. The place is very comfortable and everything works. If you are hiking, there are numerous paths in the immediate vicinity. If you are skiing, Le Tour is right there - the lift is about a 3 minute walk. Most of all, John and his french associate who showed us the place were the epitome of helpful and welcoming. Very highly recommended.

Another great weeks stay in Le Tour. We always come to the Chamonix area in the summer for some hiking. A little less busy in Le Tour which is great and Argentiere is just a short trip away. We - a family of four with 2 children - have rented this apartment so many times in the last few years that we've lost count of how many exactly. We keep coming back because this region is superb, and the apartment ideally situated to enjoy all outdoor activities it has to offer. We also keep coming back because the apartment - bright, spacious, wonderfully well equipped, in a calm peaceful spot - is easy to feel at home in. Last but not least, we appreciate how helpful and responsive the owner is whenever we've addressed him questions. Most highly recommended.

A Wonderful Chalet Apartment in Le Tour

Six of us (four adults and two children) stayed here for a week and a half at the beginning of 2015. The chalet is tucked away at the bottom of the Le Tour ski slopes and has a wonderful view down the valley. The apartment has everything you could ask for to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Its large enough so that you don't get under each others feet, but cosy enough to enjoy a quiet evening in front of the fire (wood burner) with a glass of wine after the children have gone to bed. The great thing about Le Tour is the easy access to the ski slopes and if you love a quieter pace of life then this will suit you perfectly. On the morning before we left approximately 20 cm of snow fell and before we were even fully awake it was being cleared, so do not worry about getting stuck in bad weather, just make sure you have snow chains. Argentiere is the next village down the valley and has all the shopping facilities you will need to survive day-to-day and some great restaurants. The restaurants in Le Tour only seemed to open for lunch and close for dinner whilst we were there. Chamonix is a bit further on from Argentiere and is easy to get to by Car, bus from Le Tour or train from Argentiere. The owner and local caretaker were both very helpful, friendly and professional. They kept us informed through the entire process from booking to leaving and provided us with a wealth of information for all aspects of our stay. I would recommend this chalet apartment to anyone looking for a quieter place to stay whilst exploring Chamonix and the surrounding area.

This is a great place to bring the kids. Its quiet, close to the slopes and has a large garage. There is plenty of space and the facilities are good. Isabel, who looks after the place, is very helpful. Remember to bring snowchains in winter.

We are a family of four and this is our second time in Le Tour and both times we had a great time. The skiing is absolutely wonderful and the slopes are great for all levels and ages. We highly recommend this apartment, it’s comfortable and got everything you need and the free use of the Wifi is essential as you can check the weather and the snow report every morning. It is especially well located – you can walk to the ski lift and you can come back skiing all the way back to the apartment (my boys loved that!). Le tour is a great place and the snow is plentiful there, probably because it’s situated at the top of the valley. The free bus, that takes you to all the other resorts, is handy as well.

This is a gem of an apartment - it's set back from the main drag and nice and quiet. Having said this, it's about a 4 minute walk up to the ski lift in Le Tour and the bus that transports you to the rest of the resort, so you are not isolated. The apartment seems spacious - there were 6 of us staying there and the 2 .5 bathrooms made our lives much easier. Enough hot water for all of us to shower straight after coming in from the slopes! The apartment is comfortably fitted out and there is enough crockery, cutlery, etc! We had excellent customer service from the owner and I would highly recommend this apartment to friends and family alike.

6 of us - 2 couples and 2 children had a fantastic stay in this apartment which exceeded our expectations! The apartment is well laid-out, comfortable, well equipped and clean. There was always enough hot water for the 5 skiers after a day on the slopes! I am sure the large balcony would be fantastic in warmer weather with great views. The owner and local manageress were both extremely helpful when booking and during our stay and the information provided on the site was accurate. We did not have a car and the Le Tour lift is a short walk from the apartment. We did not envy people having to find space in the very full carparks each day or having to deal with the snow and ice! We made use of the ski bus and skied in Le Tour (including to Vallorcine), Argentiere, Flegere / Brevent and did a day trip to Courmayeur. We definitely recommend the apartment and location and were pleased to be away from the busyness of Chamonix during New Year's week. Thanks for a great stay and hope to be back soon!

Our family project was to climb the Mont-Blanc, and we succeed! This apartment was very comfortable, quiet and clean, well equipped. We appreciated to have three separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and WC, a wash machine and a dryer machine, Internet... Le Tour is a very beautiful and quiet village (to much tourists in Chamonix in August), very good point of start for all walkings, hiking or excursions in the Chamonix valley and Switzerland. I recommend - refuge Albert 1er- Le Buet - Le glacier du Trient - barrage d'Emosson - Lac Blanc - Aiguillette de Posette ...- everything closed to le Tour. En français: notre projet familial était de gravir le sommet du Mont-Blanc et nous avons réussi! Nous avons apprécié l'appartement confortable, calme et très bien équippé ( trois chambres à coucher vraiment indépendantes, deux salles de bain et WC, une machine à laver et un sèche linge collectifs pour les quatre appartements du chalet, internet...). Le Tour est un très joli village typique et surtout très calme contrairement à Chamonix qui est très fréquenté au mois d'août. C'est un très bon point de départ pour toute randonnée, course ou excursion dans la vallée de Chamonix et de l'autre côté de la frontière Suisse (ci-dessus quelques exemples de sorties). Merci à M. Hart pour ce "Base camp"!

The conditions for a nice ski vacation were perfect. Plenty of fresh snow a warm sun and no crowded ski pistes. Only the last day was not so good weather so we left early in the Friday afternoon and avoid the hectic black Saturday on the way back. Putting snow chains on is an easy job in the snow free underground garage. The ski shop "Loc a Pic" next to the telecabine was very good, reasonable priced and very friendly people. For the kids they selected in one go the right boots! It was also very convenient that we could leave all ski equipment in there, so we could make easch day the short walk from the apartment and step into warm ski boots. What a luxury! For lunch we used the small and cosy chalet at the ski-piste near the Aiguillere lift where they serve very good and fresh local food in a friendly atmosphere. Reservation is recommended because there are only 24 chairs indoors. We surely will return to LeTour and your nice apartment.

We are a family of five that stayed in the apartment for one week. We really enjoyed having 2 bathrooms and the three bedrooms. The kids had some of their own space. The views from the apartment are beautiful and you are within walking distance of the ski lifts. It took about 15 min to walk with all your ski gear on, but is easily doable. This made it great for people to get back if they wanted to finish skiing earlier than the rest of the group. 4 of us were beginner skiiers and Le Tour was excellent for this. We were able to progress at our own speed with a telecabine and harder runs here as well. We enjoyed the area as it was not crowded. There are a few restaurants in Le Tour and we also drove to Argentiere, which was nice to walk around for shops and restaurants. There is also a supermarket here which is less than 10 min drive. We were able to cook and eat in the apartment which is always a nice option when traveling with three kids. John was very helpful beforehand and had all the explanations for everything written in the apartment. Isabelle was easy to reach and meet us with keys and for checking out. They were both very knowledgeable about the area and very willing to answer questions. We plan on going back in the summer for different views!

The Gillies family spent another wonderful stay in Le Tour. The view from the apartment's balcony is wonderful and inspires one to head for the cable cars which speed one to heights that would take many hard hours hiking to reach. You can walk from Le Tour to the surrounding hills and while being immensely pleasurable it can be strenuously steep at times and alternative is to take the Balme uplift and walk to Albert hut through stunning scenery. We again purchased Multipasses which are great value. As usual the flat was very comfortable and functional and so cosy on the few occasions of torrential rain and colder Scottish type weather! We also caught a Celtic music festival in Chamonix and saw one of our local pipe bands. All the musicians and dancers were wonderful. If you want an exciting 'walk' check out the route to the Envers D'Aiguille hut! It was sensational. We would love to see the area in winter raiment sometime. I would also think the Tour du Mont Blanc or sections of it could be a future possibility? Thanks again John for your magic wee hoose up the glen. The Gillies family

We stayed in the apartment for a week around Easter 2009 and spent fabulous skiing holidays. We travelled as a party of six, two of us were teenagers. The young guys and their parents agreed that the accommodation is an ideal location for a skiing holiday in the area. It's well equipped, very comfortable and clean. There's a garage you can use for either the car or the skis, which is very useful. We enjoyed the lovely sunny balcony every evening after skiing. If you prefer easy skiing you can ski the slopes in Le Tour, which are just in the distance of some minutes walk. For more experienced skiers the slopes in Argentiere (Les Grandes Montets) or in Chamonix are the place to go. We enjoyed incredible blue skies and awesome, demanding slopes there. All the places are easy to reach by car, but there's also a public skibus provided for the transfer. The chalet in Le Tour is situated in a wonderful landscape. As Le Tour is a very small village, it is a very quiet place without the disadvantages of mass tourism like i. e. in Chamonix. Therefore you can easily recreate for your next skiing adventure the next day ;-) The owner as well as Ivonne, the housekeeper, are very friendly, co-operative and helpful people, which we appreciated very much. They provided every information we needed. We can absolutely recommend this place (also for mountaineering in summer!) and we'll definitely be back.

Our second stay at this accommodation. There were 5 of us, one couple and 3 singles. The sleeping arrangements were ideal for this. The accommodation is very nice (see the pictures) and the location is excellent. There is parking very close to the apartment and you can use the garage for storing you snowboards and skis. This is very useful as it saves clutter and mess in the apartment. We've stayed at various places in the valley and Le Tour offers the best value for good accommodation and the best access to the slopes. Being a small village you need to travel for shopping and evening entertainment. If you have a vehicle that's no issue as its all only about 3-4 miles away. travel during the day is easy even without a vehicle as the bus service is very good, and you are always travelling the opposite direction to the main flow of people. The owner is very easy to deal with and the agent is resort couldn't be any better. We had an issue with our vehicle and she spent a lot of time and effort helping us to sort it out. It certainly saved us wasting a lot of our holiday trying to solve it on our own. Many thanks for that. If your going to holiday in the Cham valley then do a bit of research on Le Tour, and put this accommodation on your list of possibles.

If you want to enjoy the world´s best skiing and snowboarding, on and off piste, while spending your nights quietly squirrelled away in a tranquil, unspoilt hamlet, then this apartment in a chalet could be for you. It´s worth staying here for the spectacular view from the lounge and balcony alone. The homely touches, wood panelling and stove are all bonuses. Equipment is good and the garage underneath means you don´t have to chip your windows clear or dig your car out after a snowfall. By French standards the main bedroom is a good size but the low headroom in the other two makes them more suitable for children. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the Le Tour lifts and there´s an excellent free bus service connecting with the other ski areas. We would certainly recommend this property.

We had really good holidays in the Appartment in a very beautiful location. Only 5 minutes walk from the slopes of Tete de Balme, everything was very easy. Isabelle was of excellent help, providing linens and towels and a absolutely clean appartment. The whole appartment was fully equiped, and we had everything we needed. Very useful is also the entrance via the garage, where we could leave our skis and equipment. We definitively would recommend the place to our friends and possibly go there again in summer. Great place, perfect location, very good value for money :)

This is a fabulous chalet, very well equipped and in a great location. The ski area of Le Tour is just a few meters walk from your door, with the rest of Chamonix just a short drive or bus journey away. The owner was very accomodating and flexible. All the arrangments were in place to make life as easy possibly for us when we arrived and left. The chalet is very well equipped with everything you cound possibly need and more. We found there was very little to do in the Le Tour - however busses run to and from Chamonix Centre until midnight - after that you'll be looking at a very expensive cab fare home (be warned). In summary this the perfect place to stay for anyone wanting a quiet location in the heart of the ski area. Great value for money.

This is the fourth time we have rented this chalet, and have had many fabulous times.The location is a short,if somewhat steep walk from the Telecabine station which serves all the lifts and pommel tows on the beautiful slopes of the Tete du Balme, itself at 2000 m. There is a superb practice and beginner piste at the village, for beginners and children which is a 70 metere walk from the chalet . The skiing was excellent this year, with over 3 metres of snow and blue skies for the whole week. We discovered that you could leave your skis and poles at the rental shop at the Telecabine for 2 Euros per night, which helped us with the walk! My friend Ben is and excellent skiier of mature age and I am a keen skiier, recovering from a hip replacement. We both found the pistes and variety of trails to be enjoyable without being too challenging. The views on the other hand were amazing, easily the best Ive seen in the whole Chanonix Valley. My camera was clicking at every corner. Our wives used their snow shoes to enjoy the fantastic snow and we joined them in a walk at Vallorcine, which is accessible by train. We took advantage of the Taxe de sejour which allowed us to use the transport to the whole valley, Bus and train, for 0.90 cents per day. The chalet is very warm at all times, and has an underground garage and entry to the apartment.This protects luggage and ski equipment. The views from the upstairs windows are memorable, the alpen bloom being very special as well as the Le Tour Glacier which oversees the village ( from a distance! ). The accomodation is ample, and it was particularly well stocked with cutlery and cooking utensils, and crockery allowing ample cooking for hungry skiers. We also ate out at the DAHOU restaurant which remains our favourite. The Femme de menage, Isabelle, was brilliant. She had cleaned the apartment thoroughly and and provided quality linen. She sorted out a damaged chair and was a star! WE would recommend this property to a friend without any doubt as long as we will be able to be fitted in next year ! From Peter,Judith,Ben and Joan.

Five of us (one couple and 3 friends) stayed here for a week in July. Everyone in our party agreed: the apartment was great -- very comfortable, esp. with the nice kitchen and tidy laundry downstairs. We were happy to be outside of busy/touristy Chamonix, and we all enjoyed hiking in the nearby mountains. Gorgeous views everywhere. The owner and local caretaker were both pleasant and professional. For mountaineers, the Albert 1er Hut is a short (~2 hr w/ the lift) hike away and serves as an access point to the Le Tour Glacier, A. d. Chardonnay, A. d. Tour etc. Something for all skill levels. We had a car, although it seemed that you could get by without it if you're a good planner. The car did help with groceries though.

The above description doesn't do this place and location justice - it was everything we could have asked for. Location was stunning, village was quiet but close enough to everywhere else as/when you needed it and you could walk to the slopes. We drove from Geneva airport, which even late at night and in snowy weather was a straigthforward and reasonably effortless trip. Apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped - and the most wonderful of views. Customer service by the owner and the local representative were excellent - even when we brougth their garage door bleeper home with us :-( Thoroughly recommend this lovely apartment and location.

Great chalet, great location. Very homely and clean - well equipped kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room - great views from balcony. Whilst we were only a family of five adults there was plenty of room to sleep 6/7. Also secure car parking - though no signs of needing it! The owners agent lives locally, speaks good English and made us feel very welcome. Excellent base for mountaineering (and no doubt skiing) with close access to the Le Tour ski lift and free bus travel if needed down the valley to Argentiere and Chamonix. Within walking distance of the Auguille Rouge, Ag. de Tour, Ag. de Chardonnet and even the Ag. Argentiere. Shops, good restaurants, supermarket, Guides Office and Tourist Information (weather forecasts) all within 5 minutes drive (bus stop 100m away) or an hours walk, in Argentiere. Local amenities in Le Tour a bit sparse in the summer. Definitely try and book here again for our next trip to the Chamonix Valley - best of all worlds. Highly recommended.

Our family (two boys aged 14 and 11 years) spent a wonderful week last August in Le Tour staying in this comfortable, adequate, clean and very well positioned duplex apartment. Whilst the second half of the week was rather cloudy and rainy, we were blessed with excellent weather, clear blue skies and sunshine to begin the week with, which gave us a great perspective of this beautiful area. The apartment is peaceful, being situated towards the end of a valley. With the use of public transport or a car, many other areas of interest are easily reached. I would recommend the apartment, but to be honest whilst it does sleep 6, a family of 4 for a week was comfortable enough! Anita
