I have mixed feelings about this property. The grounds were absolutely incredible. It fronted the water (which by the way, was NOT ocean-front, but on a river flowing to the ocean). The kids loved to see the variations in the tide. You could see a great blue heron, cormorants and gulls hanging out nearby. We saw what we think was an osprey swoop by and grab a fish. Maybe some seals swimming by? Such a beautiful place. Mature trees, a mowed area, great decks and views from several rooms.
This was not a spotless place. The whole place could use a good scrubbing. Many of the blinds were dirty and probably should be replaced. We could hear rodents at night and when using the hose reel on the back deck dislodged a mouse from his nest there.

Responsive staff helped getting us back in quickly when we accidentally locked ourselves out. All appliances were fantastic and it was such a good downtime to recharge our energy.

"Retreat" is the perfect word for this lovely haven of rest. The only company we saw or heard, was wildlife @ this time of year. Recommend the local fresh oysters @ 449 Five Islands Rd-only $15/dozen. Everything imaginable is close by.

Very peacefull chalet-kind of retreat in pure nature, surrounded by a sheltered bay and woods, originally settled in 1750, build in 1989. Very generous space, fully equiped, in particular the kitchen, with pots even for larger lobsters and plenty of spices and sauces. It feels more like staying at a friends house. Access via an unpaved road, the next house is half a mile away.
