Petak Cottage

For the price value was great.

It’s located on a hill which is fairly steep. Stairs to cottage is in disrepair making it difficult when wet.

Fantastic view, quiet and empty during our stay. Super comfortable, and great location. Beach with coral reef, Diving center and nice restaurants few min walk away. The hosts were very friendly and even helped us with ferry tickets.

Everything worked well.

The cottages are no-nonsense but you have everything you need, in a clean authentic package. The magic lies in the property. Your charming hut is rich in sea / volcano views, surrounded by wild flowers of all breeds and colours, often being shadowed by a butterfly colony. I would take two daily dips in the infinity pool, often engaged in an unknowing game of Marco / Polo with a playful dragonfly.

The property could use some polish on some weathered edges; but for the price / location / magic - I would take it as it is, any day (and I did for nine of them).

The view was stunning! And the staff were great.. Cleaning done everyday. Okay breakfast.. close to marts and other Warrungs. They’ve got a small refrigerator in the room which does chill the beer bottles..

There were a series of mishaps unfortunately. The aircon didn’t work well or rather it just worked under limited conditions… heat wave moment for us! On the first night when we got back from our dinner we tried opening the door and the key just broke.. We had to get inside via the balcony doing some stunts.. however the staff was brilliant and assisted us, but my husband ended up opening the door with the broken key! Apparently this has happened several times as they had a bunch of broken keys to which they were trying to open the door with. We slept that night without locking the door which was kinda safe but I wouldn’t do it again. We took cleaning the 2nd day and wondered why we did that, as we got blood stained bedsheet and worst of the towel which had foul smell. Everyday we had lizard poo on the blanket when we got back from our touristy adventure, so assuming there were some hiding above on the roof. Everything just looks great but kinda broken or just stuck with glue. Gotta be careful while handling stuffs as they are quite antique and just maybe stuck with glue. The chair outside was broken and the handle just got in my hand when I tried to adjust it! Maybe it was just our room which had all the defect I wonder, or all! We did hear another set of people requesting for a room change too but they were all booked out.. As backpackers it didn’t bother us much, but maybe for someone who is quite particular this review might be helpful. Our overall stay was great, as we used our own towels and just flicked the poo every night before going to bed.
