Augas Quentes Hostel

The location is excellent and the breakfast is included. Very nice coffee machine. The hostel is quite spacious.

The showers are quite small and directly beside one another meaning that we have no privacy at all. There isn’t any place to put our toiletries in the shower. I met different staff members. One was nice but another one acted very indifferently towards us as guests. No hospitality at all which is a shame and part of the job of a host. Although the hostel is quite spacious, the use of the space is puzzling but this an issue of construction, architecture and design.

The location is on the side of the river near the train station. The manager kept stuff clean overall, but almost too extensively (never in the best mood, wiping the inside of the sink multiple times a day).

As someone who has stayed in many hostels, this was a pretty bad experience. I get it's a pilgrim hostel but for the price it wasn't especially well equipped for the price. The shower water was either freezing or boiling. The manager was in a constant bad mood throughout the stay. Telling guests sitting quietly in the lounge on a Friday night that they had to go to bed before 12 "because the lights had to be turned off". It sounds ridiculous but it's true. He also got into a terrible mood because after cleaning my plates, I didn't thoroughly dry the sink walls. Over the top reaction for anyone traveling and not looking for stress.
