About this villa rental

The location of this beautiful beachfront Villa is just a few kilometers from the town of Orebic, on the Dalmatian penninsula of Peljesac. It offers direct access to one of the best beaches known in the region which leads out into perfectly clear, turquoise-blue water. The Villa is set within a generous garden of lemon, lime, fig and palm trees which give plenty of cool shade during hot summer days. The edge of the garden leads to a gate after which follow a set of steps directly onto the wonderful beach below.

The Villa is approached from the rear where there is parking for up to three cars. Guests walk down a short pathway to approach the sea-facing front of the Villa where the entrance is located. There guests into a large modern open-plan kitchen/dinner/lounge area. On this ground floor level there are also three double bedrooms and one separate bathroom. A spiral staircase leads to the first floor where guests will find two double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Both double bedrooms lead out onto a shared sea-facing terrace. The rooftop of the Villa bears yet another terrace.

The main attraction of the entire Villa is its exquisite outside area, where guests spend the majority of their time, as it makes of an ideal entertaining area. The patio doors from the lounge lead out onto a large dining area equipped with a BBQ located at the side of the property. In addition there is a comfortable outdoor lounge spot. Both the outdoor lounge and dining areas are shaded by an attractive wooden sun shade. Further forward there is a spacious garden where 4 marble chairs and a table are positioned at the end to enjoy the best sea view. A short walk away, one of the two beach bars is a relaxing Tikki bar and restaurant overlooking the sea, as well as a scuba-diving centre. Not far from the beach, near the Villa, there is a wonderful sunken ship to view just off the coast. Nearby in the town of Orebic plenty of nightlife can be found as well as restaurants. From Orebic it is a short ferry ride to visit the city of Korcula on the island of Korcula, while approximately 15 km from the Villa there is the coastal town of Viganj, popular with windsurfers. Guests staying in this region can also visiting local vineyards, take a day trip to Dubrovnik or Mostar, and other places such as the National Park of Mljet Island.

The Dalmatia region

Peljesac is a peninsula in southern Croatia, in the Dubrovnik -Neretva county, just about an hour and a half drive from Dubrovnik. It is around 70 km long and is connected with Croatian Mainland at Ston.It is the longest of all Dalmatian peninsulas, abounding in natural bays, mostly covered with woods, with a coast full of beaches, reefs, bays and fjords. Peljesac was inhabited since ancient times by Illyrians and Greeks, later by Romans and since the 7th century by Slavs. The old historians mention it under the name Rathaneus Kersones, meaning the Cape Lynx. The Peljesac Channel divides the peninsula from the island of Korcula. Scattered like breadcrumbs across the foothills of the dolomites, the hamlets and villages of southern Peljesac evoke an ancient past. The rocks, the vegetation, the groves of pine and cypress - everywhere a sense of timelessness prevails. On the hills above the sea, abandoned villas and gardens, stone walls and columns lie crumbling in the sun. Lemon, fig and almond trees, herbs and wildflowers surround the villages gardens and fields. The historical sea captains' town of Orebic - with its shops, market, cafes and restaurants is on the bottom of the Sveti Ilija Mountain. A footpath into the mountains to the summit of Sveti Ilija begins near Viganj too - Croatia's windsurfing capital. There, seaside restaurants and pebbly beaches attract a lively crowd in summer months. The island of Korcula and Mljet are is just across the channel

Mokalo

Peljesac has an ancient maritime tradition and is the home of many captains famous for their skill and bravery on the open sea. It is also well known since ancient times for the fine vineyards, and the excellent sorts of wine, "Dingac" and "Postup", are famous all over the world.

Orebic – a small town on the south seashore of Peljesac Peninsula, originally built by sea captains who found this spot to built their homes and villas. It is located on the regional road running along Peljesac peninsula. Back in 19th century, Orebic had one of the largest sailing and shipping societies in Mediterranean but as soon as steam ships replaced sailing ships, Orebic lost it's primate in the field, although sailing itself remains local activity to present days. Orebic is nowadays popular tourist resort, offering various accommodation facilities – hotels, apartments, and rooms, long pebble beaches (Trstenica).

Here is a quote about Orebic from Sunday Times UK: “Stick a pin anywhere on a map of the Croatian coast and you're likely to hit on an unspoilt beach and a sleepy fishing village or two. If you're lucky, you might find a lovely little place like Orebic, on the Peljesac peninsula, north of Dubrovnik. It has a long, sandy beach, restaurants serving black squid risotto and whitebait, and a jetty where you can take a 15-minute ferry ride to the delightful island of Korcula. ”

This property is in the most amazing location. We stayed here the first week in June. Weather was just perfect. Actually, the temperature increased by the day, along with the water temp. I was slightly concerned given the house is flanked by camping sites, but there was no ill effects from campers at all. There are two restaurants on either side of the house which was great. The beach restaurant is great for light fare, beer wine, pizza, and basic food. The other restaurant was incredible. The setting was second to none. The food and staff were amazing, a big thumbs up! The house is large enough to sleep 10 comfortably with 5 bedrooms. Kitchen is small but manageable. Bathrooms were great, particularly the upper bathrooms. Great patios. There are 3 decks/patios on 3 levels, smaller as you go up.The town of Orebić is a short drive with tons of great eateries and access to ferries and water taxis. Some negatives: from the house to the water, there are lots of trees and vegetation, so virtually no view. There may be a reason for this as in the heat of the summer it gets very warm so the shade will keep things cooler. The stairs to the beach are steep and long, so be prepared to get your steps in lol. Tons of mosquitoes! Bring your bug spray. Overall, a must visit!!

Property manager Meri did not meet us at the villa she simply left key in a drawer for us, despite us being on time for check in. Meri washed inside and outside with a garden hose. Thus, we could not use downstairs bathroom or terrace for the rest of the day due to large puddles of water. Shower rooms don’t have flexible shower-heads, common to most bathrooms in EU, that makes cleaning bathrooms an impossible task. Parking is under 8m tall walnut trees that drop walnuts the size of chicken egg which leave big dents on your car. One safe spot to park is next to trash bins, for one car. During heavy rain the front door leaked creating large puddle inside, the spiral staircase windows leaked so badly it wet all stairs and dripped onto the first floor. Collected water with towels. The corner of the living room leaked badly and small brown river formed across the living room, we had to keep cleaning with towels squeezing them into a bucket. No one from management came the next day to clean, collect dirty towels or even assess the damage. Property has two large bedrooms the rest are too small. Aircon is broken in one of two large bedrooms and effort to fix it resulted in nothing. We slept in a hot room for 3 nights, then were saved by cooler weather. Downstairs bathroom smells like sewer. Outside bathroom unusable, it was dirty and smelled. Property is waterlogged and it creates a lot of mosquitoes that were not present anywhere during our vacation except at Villa Kustra.

Villa Kustra is a Very handsome ,well appointed home with direct access to glorious Ardriatic beach. There are many steps , but with the good handrails , easily navigated. Shady hammocks invited lazy summer naps. Easy fully functional outdoor kitchen & bathroom facilities & comfortable, spacious covered terrace for dining & lounging. Dry air with fragrant breezes made for an unforgettable stay for our family of 10. Truly a beautiful spot

We had a great time in that lovely house! The bedrooms upstairs are huge, so are the bathrooms. Downstairs the bedrooms are also okay, but much smaller and you have to share a bath. The kitchen has everything we needed. On the beach there were many people and it was quite loud. So we stayed in our private space on the property and just went down for swimming. All in all a great house!

Villa Kustra was absolutely gorgeous and truly exceeded our expectations. The property itself is stunning and serene. The proximity to both the beach bar and the restaurant on either side of the property was an added bonus, providing us with perfect options for nights when we didn’t feel like cooking. Traveling from Dubrovnik to Split and exploring other areas along the way, we couldn't have made a better choice for our stay. The location is ideal for exploring the area while also offering a peaceful retreat. We were three couples, and the property provided ample space for both privacy and togetherness. With so many different nooks and spots to relax, it felt like a new experience each day. I can't recommend this place enough—it truly made our vacation unforgettable.

Six friends stayed for a week at this beautiful beachfront home. The house has everything needed for a fun and relaxing vacation. There are excellent restaurants and a vineyard with wine tasting within walking distance. The kitchen is fully equipped and modern and there is plenty of space to dine both indoors and out. The grounds and gardens are stunning with lounge chairs and hammocks at several levels leading to the beach. There are many stairs here - like everywhere in Croatia! The owner provided all the information we could possibly need about the house and the surrounding area including recommendations for restaurants and excursions. This is a great place to stay and relax as well as being ideally located to explore the entire peninsula.
